Can a player serve better with a less spinny (arguably) rubber?

Today I managed to try Fastarc G1, I am thinking of moving away from Tenergy 05fx for various reasons.

Anyway I think I hack serves not brush them in general. My serves are not great.

Today I hacked my serves with G1 and seemed to be getting more spin and variation than with my usual 05fx. This does not make sense really.

However it occurred to me that possibly the serves had more spin as rubber was less bouncy and so I could Hack the ball on serve and get more spin with my less than adequate action.
It definitely seemed easier to keep the serves low with this action. Lula always says with pimples on bh about keeping ball low if you cant play a strong shot, maybe this works for serves too even if they end up a bit longer.

I think i agree.
Taking a standard commercial H3 (of which most people will argue that it it is a stiff as board) which has limited bounce and is
very sticky (when new) I also can give more spin to the ball.
Very handy for serves but also for slow action close to the net where i can sometimes surprise the opposition with unexpected
back-spin using little effort.

Hi Mog,

With Tenergies the spring sponge means the ball leaves quickly, which as you say is a factor for spin production. Did the G1 feel softer? Like the ball bit into the top sheet more as well?
How about open play, how was your FH top spin compared to the 05fx?

The G1 was a lot better than I expected in all ways.

Sometimes it seemed a bit harder and bouncy, generally on faster no spin type shots incoming.
But I was very surprised how well I served with it (low especially), It seemed like I was getting a lot of topspin too, when I correctly looped. I think it was definitely better for flat hitting driving, although I put a few in the net, more than normal.

Would have to play some other players in different conditions, but I think I could adapt to the G1 and probably play better with it. It did not feel hard and a bit spinless like I felt when I tried MX-P

I was using it on a Korbel SK7 and a Xiom Solo, it was the first time I have tried these blades for a long time.
Whether I end up back on 05fx is yet to be seen, but it is the first non Tenergy I have liked so much on the first try.

For the flat hitting, the G1 throw could be a little lower? Or because not quite as bouncy perhaps the ball didn’t clear the net, slight bat angle change and if you give it a good run I’m sure you’ll get use to the G1!!
