Hello!

So I put on H3Neo on my sealed HL5 for the first time yesterday. I didn't do a good job of cutting the rubber as you can see but more worryingly, while using the scissors, I cut along the edge of rubber (see picture). I have also been unable to see properly if there is anything on the surface but I think there might be a chip

(i) Does this look problematic? Is there a way to fix it?

On related but separate note:

(ii) I only used one layer of glue on my sealed blade along with one layer on the rubber and I felt it didn't properly stick. I have had the surface under a pile of books for a few hours now hoping, the adhesion improves. If it doesn't stick what is usually the protocol, do I take it off and re-glue?

If I play with it without it sticking properly, will it affect how the racket will play?

Apologies for the wall of questions and text. Will be grateful for any help! 🙏

yep, looks like you got a tiny nick there, next time you change rubbers you can deal to it with a bit of sand paper.

Did you let the glue dry properly before offering the rubbers up to the blade ?
I f you did it should hold together fine.

One reason why a bond can be weak is if after sealing you ended up with a high gloss finish. then a light sand with 320 grit can help to break the gloss. Use a block to sand and make sure you do not round the edges.

Whats the glue you use ?

Thanks so much! Just my luck, I finally get a nice blade and end up hurting the poor thing lol

Yeah, I let the glue dry before putting it on. I used the DHS No.15. I have the let a bunch of books sit on it for about 12 hours. Hopefully that should be enough.

So for the nick, I can just sand it down? If there are any splinters, do I also glue that area?

happy to look at it when the rubbers are off.
If there are splinters or loose parts they can be glued back into place Sometimes a little bit of filler can be used too.
In the meantime I would suggest you try really hard to enjoy your play with the new blade and have fun. 😁
