Overboosting probably wouldn't affect dwell time much, sounds more like a technique issue. However the harder the rubber is, the more feedback it also gives, which could be what you experienced change once you boosted it and softened the sponge so you got less feedback.Had a similar experience with my LAC. They were getting a bit old and slow, so I thought, what the hell, why not try boosting them? Then they “lost” their ability to spin.
TBH, I think I overboosted them and they just became too bouncy for my limited skill level. I suspect the lack of dwell time caused the ball to bounce off too quickly, so it didn’t have enough time to pick up spin.
Boosting generally improves dwell as it softens the sponge, but keeps the hard/tacky topsheet, so it allows the ball to sink into the sponge while the ball stays put on the tacky topsheet.
