My Excalibur has arrived. Custom made by master craftsman in Taiwan using premium grade Japanese-Hinoki material ( Trees are above 300 years old ) She is 112g without any rubber customised to 10.5mm thickness. I also requested the flared handle to be extra long to support my FH dominant looping play style from mid-distance.

Will pair it with Tibhar MX-P on FH & Xiom Vega Europe on BH.

Usually I don't care about how blade looks but this one is almost too beautiful to put rubbers on it.
But anyway please post pics with rubbers on it, I am curious how thick it will look.

I’d say that’s a good thing, still heavy though. My heaviest set up is 191g. My current set up is 175g, due to very light rubber, the blade weigh is perfect. But I did notice my reaction improving…

Tried it out tonight at my club and MX-P is playable on this blade. It's hardness is the same as my current rubber i.e., Donic Bluefire M1 which is 47.5 degree hardness on ESN scale.

My mate has a same blade as I do and he uses Dignics 05. I tried it, and it is even more playable... but the price is a road block for me. Maybe next year when I get my next bonus.

Earlier I had the opportunity to tried out a 50 degree hardness rubber ( ESN scale ) and it is not playable for me. It seems my highest tolerance limit is 47.5 degree on FH.

As for BH, I am using Vega Europe which is listed as 42.5 ESN hardness. This is a very playable rubber for me, much much better quality loop coming from this rubber compared to my existing Donic M1 rubber. This Xiom Vega Europe 42.4 degree hardness is definitely a keeper.

Why did you hide that beautiful handle behind grip tape?

I know, everyone likes different stuff.

How much does it weigh with the rubbers and the grip tape on it....so, fully "assembled"?

I know I know Carl, all of you expect me to keep my blade in her natural form like above.

But I acquire her not for ornament, but rather as a weapon to be used in battlefield. Hence I need to suit her up in finest armour to withstand the rigour of battle.

Finally, the final weight is 213g with all the dressage, still lighter than my previous Hinoki blade which weigh in at 218g. I think the Xiom rubber did shed some grammage off the blade. NB: The blade sans rubber is 112g where as the older one without rubber is 107g. Donic M1 rubber are heavier.

Nah, you set it up how you want. I may hate the feel of grip on a handle. But everybody is different. Battle armor....wearing less to be more nimble....
