Soulspin do wonderful work -- I just got a new blade from them as well. Custom basalt setup.

What style do you use the off+++ for?

That's what it looks like. Given the thickness of the spruce top ply, and the thickness of the core, I gather it is still within the legal standards of at least 85% of the blade being wood. All of those plies look very thick (much more than a 0.6mm veneer that is typically used for plies aside from the core).

I wouldn't say basalt has that composite feeling. I've had the chance to hit with a basalt soulspin blade from a friend for a few minutes and it felt very 'woody'.
Basalt is a magma/lava-like material that feels very different to the typical composite feeling.
