@Archo

found a video of some fellow countrymen of yours :) why dont you try to play with them ?
I would if I could. It's not that there's no good level in Finland, it's that it's a little more expensive and harder to get to than 5USD/night and a 30 min walk. ;)

Given how close the trial is and I don't want to play more than usual, I will try again on Saturday and hold off the idea of switching rubber. I think Pricey's theory is probably the most likely, as the rubber did play fine for the majority of the session (2 hours), and then it became so slippery that my opponent have a look and finds it very odd.

It will be really appreciated if I can see some footage from you Pricey, as you are a penhold player and plays at such high level. :)

I was unable to video matches but I've recorded some small footage of me serving if that helps you at all. Guys any criticism is welcome [emoji2][emoji1303][emoji2]

Hey Jeff, whats going on with your H3 ? did you figure out what the issue was and did your trial happen ?

Hey monster, I'm touched that someone remembers me :eek:

Haha, I didn't really figure out what the issue is, but out of impulse, I decided to change my rubber and 'upgrade' it to a province level. I know it is not a good idea to change rubber so close to a trial, but then I was on the safe side as I had a robot at home for emergency 'break - in'. Turns out that I didn't have to do too much to adjust at all, and at club practice 2 days ago, I was pleased with its performance.
The trial hasn't happened yet, but will happen 3 days later.

Beat up on the choppers who are much higher rated than me. Both are USATT rated 2150+ in league they used to be much higher the previous weeks.

I will lose to some improving players and get back down to low 1900s soon. This league is tough. Everyone fights for the same points no adjustments. A dude who is 2150 USATT can be 1900 in this league.

Played Westchester today and played a lot of fun table tennis. Still need to do some work to set up my attack better and I also have to do work on my pushes. The actual attack itself is satisfying more often than not and I think setting it up is what I have to work harder on. OR just learning to attack hard a wider set of balls. I think one thing that will help a lot is being able to loop hard down the line or into the middle. I think I am going to stop looping cross court in practice with my main practice partners as it develops little at this point in my game.

Almost lost to Agold today again - the kid brought the heat and threw the kitchen sink at me. I was down 0-2 and had to fight to win the third game at 18-16 (could have been more than that for all I know). I kinda feel bad too because I thought the kid had gotten the score wrong in the 5th game in my favor when I was the one who had the score wrong and he was right. Didn't make a difference but it shows me that I am getting a little mentally old. Scary. I have to apologize profusely to him sometime.

I did beat a nemesis of mine who for the life of me I could not explain why I had lost to him twice (both in 5 games). This time, I got him in the 4th after he missed his 3rd ball attack. So at least a psychological monkey off my back.

A kid that has a funky all round game with a very heavy push that I used to miss read. He used to push (or really chop) my no spin serves and I couldn't open on them given how I was reading them. I think where we played constrained his game a little. If we had played in the main hall, I would have gotten more fishes and lobs.
