Defensive style, which carbon?

Hi,

I am looking for to use a rubber of LP on a fast or carbon blade as a change from all wood or defensive blade for test and maybe as a choice, but i am not sure about which carbon type should i choose for this assignment, ALC or ZLC or Fiber or whatever?

I am thinking about 7 layers carbon blade rather than 5 layers, so it can be very close to my offensive blades that i use, most likely i am not much comfortable with my forhand at all with all of my all wood and defensive blades compared to my offensive blades [carbon], and i saw like 3 players playing LP with carbon blade and they are amazing, one of them used to play with defensive wood blade and he moved to carbon and his game much improved, and another one is a coach so using a carbon blade with LP can tell something, so i want to go same route and at least having one of blades with LP rubber to be carbon included, so let me know what do you think as a better suit carbon for LP.

Why not try one of the Long -clones.
They can be had in all kind of versions, like Innerlayer or outer-, Just Carbon or Carbo/kev or Carbon/ ZLC als with all kind of laminates with Koto or Limba outers etc.
They are dirt cheap so you could even buy one of each version 😂

Why not try Victas KOJI MATSUSHITA SPECIAL? It's probably the only carbon blade made in a large head size.

Don't try fiber. I have the Andro Kanter FO OFF

• 6mm balsa core, TXL Fiber interlayer and Limba outer ply.
• The TXL Fiber brings hardness and directness to your punches, which brings advantages especially in the game against downspin and during point-oriented actions.
• 3 + 2 ply TXL Fiber Outer

I use it with LP but it's way to hard/fast for ox LP. Hard to control. I moved to 7ply wood only.

Generally,

5 Ply = more backspin generation, precise placement, slower. Overall keeps you in the point.

7 Ply = faster chop, lower trajectory, extra stiffness means you should feel better chopping/fishing from afar though YMMV. Better blocking and attacking. Less consistency in pure defensive phases.

Already did, have the blade and FH rubber, just waiting to find or order LP rubber, but your idea is nice so maybe i will order two more [carbon] blades dirrrrrrrty cheap 😁

It could be a nice choice, but the price is a bit prohibitive, as i don't want to spend over $80 for a blade for defensive style yet, maybe in future i can think about it when i can afford that much for just a blade, but thank you

I have few 7ply wood blades already but kind of i feel that they aren't perfect, i doubt strongly to the kind of glue it was been used for LP, all of them were glued by glue sheet as this is what a coach told me he is using to glue OX LP, but today i was chatting with another coach who is more experienced with LP and told me that the sheet glue isn't a good idea, so i will try for my next racket to be a carbon one and non-sheet glue for OX LP and see how that will change the performance overall.

I won't use a fiber carbon blade, although i have one which is great [DHS H. Hao III], but i use it for normal offensive style.

Kind of i like that 7 ply features then, i am still an offensive player more than a defensive, i just want to have a fast blade same or very very similar to my offensive blades which i like, but adding a defense side to it, and out of the blades you mentioned above i feel like i will choose that DHS08x as i have two DHS blades already and a clone of DHS as well, so that will keep me almost within blades i feel comfortable to play with.

I have one or two blades of 5 Ply all wood, not giving me what i want mainly in the FH attacking or offensive part, slower the 7 ply no doubt, so kind of it forcing me to go defensive more and less offensive or even no offensive effectively, i lost more games using 5 ply than using 7 ply, so it is clear for me that i should stay with 7 ply, and already have all wood for LP maybe now a time to go composite layer as a test.

Try Donic Person Carbotec... This may seem like an unconventional and counter-intuitive recommendation, but it works really well with with pips.

Where i.am, a lot of pip players (LP, SP,and MP) play with it. I've played quite a bit with it, and it feels really good. Has the ability to absorb incoming speed, and can generate good power and spin for offensive shots. The head and handle size may seem small'ish to some, but overall, the blade feels pretty well balanced.

I'm a pip player, and the 90gm average weight of then blade is the only reason I've not yet bought it for myself. Will do so, as soon as I come across one that's around the 85gms mark.

I am a chopblocker, i don't like to go back far from table much unless i am looping, so that i want to have that carbon blade so i can go far from table when i am using my FH side and then block or chopblock with BH when i get closer to the table again, and sometimes i just chopblock or just counter with LP while receiving serves.

For just pure chopping i might just keep using one of my all wood blades, but i might change the glue so it might be better, yesterday i was playing with one of those against a regular opponent and i was in control, but i lost few points easy that i shouldn't so i wasn't feeling secure using it, and not all opponents will be easy to make it working for me.

I am not a defensive player, but i said defensive style, from backhand at least 😁
I see others using carbon blades with LP, and LP is for defensive mainly anyway.

I didn't say you shouldn't use any carbon blade. You can use any blade you want
