While casually searching in Pinduoduo I found DHS new balls, and now I wondering if anyone has tried them before. They are double the price of DJ40+

I assume they are only available in chinese market, at least for now.
I am not sure if I will be willing to splurge on these balls. If they are just marginally better than DJ40+, which is standard tournament balls, I see no reason to buy them.
Double checked the cost and they are 1.5x the price of DJ40+.
Probably will be seeing them replacing DJ in coming years.

The density of different plastics is: celluloid ~1.4 g/cm3, ABS ~1.1, PCR (recycled PET) ~ 1.4. There is little hope that the new balls will behave like the old celluloid ones. ;-)

PCR just means Post Consumer Recycled, it does not imply anything about formulation or density. You could have PCR ABS, PCR PET, PCR PP, etc..

Just estimate how much PET and ABS are in the processed raw materials, I think the ratio is about 100 to 1.

Very good balls, similar to Double Fish and Nittaku top model. Better than all EU balls.

Ball is slow and sits up, kinda like the transition from cellulose to the original 40+ balls.
Great for slapping, but even less spin on loops.

Not really unexpected turn of events. They will be using DHS RS40+ in Europe Smash in Malmo. Main focus in recycling and sustainability, wonder which part is just the cost of manufacturing being lower for these balls🤔

THey have them on aliexpress. twice as much as the old DHS WTT balls though. not sure if its worth it. i liked the old DHS balls because they lasted forever and were half the price of nittaku balls.

About 17€ for six balls in Europe in the official Li-Ning store sure seems expensive.

yeah. i have no doubt these balls are better than nittaku...but i can get nittaku a box of 3 for $8 here.

These just arrived on the Indian market. DJ40+ is $9.6 for 6 balls and these are $10.7 for 6 balls.

I tried them and honestly I’ve moved to using them full time. The feel is solid and consistent. Price in Thailand is just around 15% higher than DJ40+, so it’s not a major issue. In our club’s amateur tournaments this ball has now become the preferred choice.
