Dignics 05 doesn't last as long as its said to last in here. I play about 6 hours a week. This rubber sucks after 3-4 months period.
People claim it last 8-10 months. not true.
It shoots straight balls. No spin. No Arch. sponge feels dead. Its not even fast anymore.
Just wanted to put it out there.

Just ordered the Zyre.... if its no good or last also short time, ill go back to 09c. My friends rubber is 6 months old. older than my 05. and play much better.

"UPDATE: just realized my friends 09c wasnt used more than a few times first 3 months as he was traveling. it may be 6 months old. but very little used half the time.
Also I never use the plastic sheet for protection on my rubbers. Might make a difference in longevity as some users suggested in here. I was a little quick with this post. I was just so frustrated how fast this rubber sucks."

That's not my experience with 05. But everyone does it differently, my level may not be as high as yours, and I probably don't topspin as well as you do. It's good to know you find 09c a viable alternative.

Have you looked after it and always covered and protected the top sheet?
All the 10 month claims are from people who've really looked after it.
I doubt the sponge has deteriorated any, unless it's being stored too hot or too cold.
It's probably the deteriorated top-sheet giving the dead effect.
In any case, that sucks man. Sorry to hear you only got 3-4 months from an €80 rubber 🫤
I have Dignics 80 almost a year now and at 6+ hrs a week it's still going strong, will certainly get a few more months from it but honestly I have looked after it with ridiculous care. Cleaned after every use, always with plastic sheet on it, in a plastic envelope, in its case, in my bag and stored safely!
Ott I know but worth it for 12 months +.
It is a BH rubber though so it takes less of a beating than a FH rubber

Yet on TTD, most people claim D09C lasts way shorter than D05. I'm interested in having a peek of your D05.

D05 is one of the most durable rubbers out there, but someone who hits hard and trains hard (if this is you) is not going to get to 10 months with 6 hours per week, without experiencing major changes in the rubber performance. You may have read a comment from someone who trains softer or less than you, or isn't as sensitive to changes in rubber performance. But even the most durable rubbers aren't getting to 240 hours of play on them without changing a lot.

But he's saying his friend's 6-month-old D09C is in better condition than his 3-/4-month-old D05. That doesn't add up, assuming they play just as much.

Yeah assuming they play and train at a similar level and amount, the next question is whether one of their was boosted and the other wasn't. All else being equal, 09c lasting longer than D05 doesn't make sense to me.

For me getting 3 months out of a rubber (as I do with Z03) is great. I also play about 6 hours a week, and D05 lasts me about 2 months, D09C about a month. But some people happily play rubber for 6 months or a year or more.

D05 on my BH is now 3 months old and is totally fine with 6h a week. That beeing said, my BH Rubbers tend to be in a lot better shape than my FH generally. I hit a lot harder and more often with FH.
Since I am neither a pro nor rich, 6 months will do just fine. I might even try and stretch it until summer or mess with booster, since I won't be playing competitively there.

I would spend some time investigating how your friend maintains their rubber and how they store it.

I am on the scale of over the top with how I look after my setups...but I get a lot longer life out of them....an example...my setups lives in a aircon cooled environment removed from their bags to remove humidity from the setup...it keeps that new snappy feeling in the setup longer......I know...I have a problem.

I play 12 hrs a week and get well above what people say.

Rubber longevity (or lack thereof) is a strange thing.

I have a blade from when I was a junior player. From around 1980. It has (eggplant coloured) Friendship 729, and Butterfly Sriver-L on it. The Friendship is still bouncy and sticky (after cleaning); the Sriver-L is a bit worn at the edges, but also still very supple and grippy. 45 year old rubbers, folks, that sill play well.

When I returned to the game (about a decade ago) I know nothing so I went with what I knew; a Stiga Offensive with Sriver on both sides. These slabs felt like hard plastic from the get go, were far less grippy, and lost that grip in a matter of weeks.

I then started using more modern rubbers. I remember being very happy with Rasant Grip — for a few weeks. Excellent grip, and I could do monsterous counterspins. Then it started slipping. Usable for a month or so.

People told me the Tenergies lasted. Went with T05 for a while. Slipping and losing grip in a month or three.

Now I'm using Fastarc-G1. A good rubber, well-balanced, and it just lasts. I replace sheets because of playing damage now, not because they're dying. It's the only rubber I found that lasts. Even the ones that are supposedly longer lived die in a few months.

What happened? Rubbers used to last. They don't anymore.

Why do you think China is being painted the way it is today by the West for being too competitive?

G-1 is a very very good long lasting rubber. What thickness are you using? Because there is people arguing differences of quality between super-thick & max, I also used both and noted better quality using super-thick sponge.

I'm using both ‘max’ and ‘super-thick’ and don't think it's much of a difference. In the past I've also used ‘thick’, which does bottom out/let you hammer through the ball a bit earlier. Subtly, but notably.

Don't think I said anything about China. Nor did I advance a conspiracy theory. I did ask a question, based on personal perception. Which is both anecdotal and subjective, but that does not necessarily make it void of veracity. So I don't know why this reaction, and don't think it serves any useful purpose.

In case I didn't make it clear, I'm not accusing you of anything. It was a way to introduce you to the video, which contains the answer to your question (it should've been common knowledge to everyone in the free world compared to the non-free world), particularly the part about GM coming up with cars in different colors every year, retroactively coined as dynamic obsolescence, a trick that sounds familiar with ESN brands?

I've had this conversation with a long-time friend in the club back in the late 2000s, wondering why modern rubbers didn't seem to last as long as those from when we were kids and we arrived at the conclusion that they had just stopped making stuff as durable to drive sales.
