I have the Double Fish Mk2 (with Volant Phoenix 1 forehand and Volant Phoenix 2 backhand), and for the low cost, it's a pretty good blade. It's super stable and linear, so all shots should feel predictable. The speed is ok, and works well when playing closer to the table, but it's a bit slow if you're playing a bit further from the table.

For the table tennis nerds out there (like me), the composition of the blade is koto-ayous-ayous-ayous-ayous-ayous-koto. This sort of setup is good for allround-offensive play, where the blade is crisp enough for the blade to feel responsive, but still soft enough to get a bit of dwell time for topspins, and the ability to play the short game.

If you have an extra $5-$10 dollars, I'd recommend the Yinhe U2, which has the same composition as the Mk2. It's a bit thinner, which makes the blade a bit more flexible (a bit more dwell time for spin, but slightly less stable). It also has a slightly softer feel than the Mk2. For me, the Yinhe blade feels soooo much nicer when looping, so if that's your game, then the Yinhe is great. For beginners to early intermediates, the Mk2 would be slightly easier to use.

I haven't used the Loki K5, but looking at its composition (limba-spruce-ayous-spruce-limba), both the Mk2 and Yinhe U2 will be faster and more direct... however the Loki K5 would be easier to spin the ball. Also, the Loki K5 would be a fair bit lighter than the Mk2/U2.

With the rubbers you're using now (Jupiter 3 Asia and Yinhe Moon 12 Blue), then your existing Loki K5 would be okay for a beginner... but if you're learning technique, and you start getting more consistent, then the Loki K5 would be pretty slow with Chinese rubbers. In my opinion both the Mk2 and U2 would probably take you further through the intermediate ranks than the Loki K5.

I'm thinking of getting m2 to learn technique as my jupiter kept yeeting ball. M2 medium on both sides. So what do you suggest? Also would u2 be difficult for a beginner?

Have you tried fextra 7? How is that compared to u2 for a beginner such as mem... Keeping in mind that i will mostly keep using chinese rubbers for a long time

Thanks... Which among u2 and fextra would you suggest for learning beginner? How do each of these compare to loki k5? I want good control for sure. Main requirement
I don't have all of them bro. For beginners, just pick whatever you like (except outer carbon). No need to overthink it.

Oh is that so... I keep overthinking cos I have to order chinese stuff from alibaba. There's tariff quite a bit. So like if one setup doesn't work well, it pains me to pay tariff again. So keep thinking of getting all I need or best to have so that i don't have to keep ordering.

I saw Double Fish Break Through 8338, it looks like it's designed for the backhand. Maybe someone has already played with it and has any feedback?

Tested it for some weeks.
Plays somewhat like a softer and grippier version of Loki Arthur China.
A bit slower and more controlled too.
It could be my backup plan after my offseason rubber and blade tests, depending on how it goes.

Buuuut im not sure if that rubber was made like this on purpose or if my sheet didnt meet any quality control.
The rubber was uneven at the sides, so i couldnt aline it propperly with the handle.

Aside from that it played like a decent rubber

Thank you! Isn't it heavy in weight? By the way, which version did you use?

Mid soft in red.

Didnt weigh the setup but it felt lighter as lac.
Usually my setup weighs around 200g, with that rubber it should be around 195.
In case that helps.
