The evident example is the video from Freitas, where he captures a ball out of the air and then smashes it on the other side. Although the ball has no visable second contact on the racket, this would not be allowed…

I agree, that the rule and rule interpretation contain again a lot of terms, where you could argue about their definition. But what you effectifly want to prohib is, that some captures the ball with the racket, moves around and then kind of throws the ball again into play (like in the Fritas Video). The accidental double hits are rare compared to number of balls played and can not really be seen as a strategic weapon (similar to edge and net clippings). So I think we are fine with the current ruling.
