Embroidered or printed t shirt for TT?

Hey TTD family!

We are getting new shirts (and jackets) for next season, and have the option of our logo being printed, or embroidered.

The upside to printing is comfort. That’s it.

The downside to printing is how long it’ll last before the logo starts to peel off, and the fact that the printing press can apparently leave a slight mark on the t shirt.

The upside to embroidering is longevity.

The downside is comfort, and potential discomfort from the stitching rubbing.

The shirts we are using are Under Armour Tech t shirts.

Does anyone play in a t shirt with an embroidered logo on the chest (left or right)?

Funnily enough, I noticed ML and FZF had embroidered Chinese flags on their t shirts in Singapore!

I have been involved with the making of both.

If you want white only, then you can have both options, if you want colour, then its going to be very costly to have both options.

There is 3 or 4 different types of printing and if I recall the cost of the best versus cheap one is almost 8 times the price.

Good quality print can last long.
I never wore the embroidered ones, I thought maybe the big logo might be discomfort, but the player didn't really notice it (when wearing)

Due to busy background, had to use a white boarder for print
3 rows of logo was printed

white logo on right top
black logo above Gewo
and then 2 colour logos (with no background needed due to simple background) at the bottom

We have both - embroidered club name on the left chest - printed logo on the back of the shirt. I dont notice any discomfort. It was all printed last time - but i think it actually looks better now

I’ve been in the decorated apparel industry for over 30 years. I would definitely go with screen printing on under armor type shirts. Although if they are saying it can leave a mark they might be talking about heat applied vinyl rather than screen printing. Even then I would steer away from embroidery on that type of material. There’s a good chance it will pucker the material around the logo. Look closely at Tony’s first pic and you will see some of what I’m talking about. If the printing is done right, whatever type it is, it should out last the shirt itself. Personally I like the printed look better on tee shirts and athletic uniforms and save the embroidery for corporate/office wear.

Agreed, I much prefer the printed look on UA type t shirts.

We are getting it embroidered on the jacket to match the embroidered UA logo (and the jacket is a thicker material).

Sublimated printing is the way to go, in my opinion. It'll give you the longevity of embroidering with the comfort of printing.

I'll see how these turn out and then look at alternatives for future if we need too.

I'm hoping they'll be good!
