There is the Yinhe Y-13 Blade, if I remember is Limba-GF-Ayous-Ayous-Ayous-GF-Limba, 5.8mm and 90gr, mor or less, I have bought several of them for clubs and players, soft feeling, good sound, OFF.

You can buy it for 12 euros, it will be a good base for your experiences.

Thanks for all the information, really useful. I've ordered some fibreglass now so we'll see how it works. I'm planning on making something similar to a barwell fleet, perhaps a few grams lighter and maybe a touch slower, perhaps 5 layers of wood rather than the 7. Ayous - mahogany - fibreglass - walnut. 90g or so, 5.8mm so it's got some flex too. Several other blades to make first though! I'll feedback when, and if, I make it!

I am using a textreme blade. Textreme is fibreglass covered with aluminium. It's has good power and flexibility, yet it has a woody feel.
I've read in hungarian forum, that it's easier to make good blades with fibreglass than carbon at home. According to them it isn't that dependant on the construction (=there is more margin for error during design). I can't remember to the why and I couldn't find that thread.

I agree. Textreme blades do have a very woody feel. Unless you choose the Stiga Carbonado 245 or 290. Well, I take that back. They do have a woody feel comparable to a 2x4. Lol That blade is THE fastest and hardest blade I've ever used. On the other hand the Carbonado 145 and 190 do have a great wood feel with speed comparable to the Butterfly Mizutani Jun Super ZLC.

My first experience with fiberglass is the blade I'm playing with now and loving so very much. The DHS Hurricane Wang Hao 3. The absolute best touch I've felt in a blade so far. Slow for a off+ rated blade but still generates enough pace to send the ball whistling past your opponent.

You may want to experiment with that center core of fiberglass/carbon design.

Sorry, I have to correct myself. Textreme is carbon and my blade uses Texalium fibre. Carbonado ads worked, bacause I automatically wrote Textreme. So, TEXALIUM is glass covered with aluminium.
