After a while, you don't look at the ball, yes when it hits but not at your racket. My hitting point is always by feel and I always look at the opponent's position then.
A friend of mine who is much better and top 100 player in his country says the same thing, his hit-moment is purely on feeling, experience, more important is how your opponent's position is. You follow the ball to a certain distance, afterwards you decide what you want to do with it. But even he thus never looks at his point of contact.
