H3 unboosted = problem??!

says Still drinking wine
I was pleasantly surprised by Loki GTX, a rubber from a new company associated with Wang Hao. I have only briefly tried it, on a JSH and then V-14 Pro, and it works well on both. Seems a good alternative to H3, with more life OOTB (no boosting), some tackiness but maybe not the ultimate performance of well run in H3. I shall carry on with it, but as the season is just underway, am reluctant to switch equipment for league play. Only seems available on Aliexpress.

I tested so many rubbers listed by others here so maybe I should give my 2 cents here after all. Do keep in mind it's just my personal opinion so please don't kill me :p

Thank you!! That was helpful. For the moment ill go with Vega China, i am quite happy with it. Only problem is this little lack of speed. But i will see if the plus in control is a big advantage.

There is really no one who played the Andro Rasanter R50, or is it? I was told its a bit like a boosted H3 as well, not much catapult, still very hard, BUT with LOTS of speed when you youse full body. Anybody some experience with that rubber?

I only tried R42 and R47 but even R47 is very demanding for me. It's similar to unboosted H3 in the way that the topsheet is so goddamn tough and u really need to "drill" through the topsheet to extract that super spin potential. The "hard" spin in R47 is already mega, probably better than most non-national rubbers, but it's so hard to extract it that at least i believe literally most people in my country can't unleash its full potentials (and definitely not me for sure) and I can see why even female andro-sponsored players are only using R47 but not R50.

It's not similar to normal H3 in terms of throw angle and speed. Angle is very low and speed is very high once you break through the topsheet. In fact it's probably closer to National H3 in that regard. R47/R50 also doesn't suit soft and bouncy blades as the ball would easily go out of table and executing spinny soft shots would become literally impossible;). If I must use R50 as my long-term rubbers I would wait until and the out-of-package factory-tuning effect dies out after few months, then boost the hell out of it to make it as soft as possible :p

It is okay to play with new DHS Hurricane 3 Neo without boosting as it is already factory tuned. The boost will wear off after 2 to 3 months or depends how frequent you play.

So i should boost it in 2 or 3 months ? How do you know it has wear off ? And if i decide to boost it, what should i do to get similar playing characteristics than initially ? Thanks !

It depends on individuals.
I have been playing DHS Hurricane 3 Neo without boosting.

The rubber will start to get hard when the factory tuned wear off.

But even the R50 is less hard then a boosted Hurricane DHS. H3 should be around 41°, R50 is more like 38-39. So this could be perfect, if you are looking for a chinese rubber style, with lots of speed?

Most commercial/provincial Chinese rubbers have high throw angle, very tacky topsheet and slow while R47(or R50, shouldn't be that different) is pretty much the polar opposite. Boosted H3 would have much longer arc but throw angle of r47 still felt much lower to me.
And sponge hardness doesn't equate to rubber's overall hardness, A properly boosted provincial H3 can have its rubber topsheet so soft that it's so much easier to generate soft topspins than a out-of-package R50.

Hey everyone!
I have been thinking about this for quite a while and want to know what you say. I am a fan of chinese rubber for about 2 years now, trying different types. First i was a fan of H3 Neo but now i am not sure anymore. My problem is this big lack of catapult. And i know, thats what chinese rubbers are about, but i have even problems when getting warm with drives from half distance. Especially with the plastic ball. Now ive noticed more and more people who are sayig that all this rubbers are meant for boosting... In an interview Timo Boll was saying that if chinese players would make their topspins with his racket they would not even get to the other half of the table. And if you watch ma long and fan zhendong training the ball seems to have an enourmas catapult even when driving with little movement. I know they are all pros and way better than me.
Bit does it make sence to use a type of rubber that is completly different then everything a pro uses? Isnt this the wrong way?
Or is there a way to compensate? A faster blade? Or maybe sanwei target national maybe? Or anything else on the market?
Thanks for your answers!

Boosting is a fast, short term solution that deteriorates the rubber rapidly.
If legal, it's good for advanced competitive players who want to get increased effectiveness from brand new rubbers, which are at their grippiest.

You can just play your H3 or whatever chinese rubber for a while until you 'break them in', where the sponge becomes a bit softer. There's no real cause to worry about topsheet deterioration on chinese rubbers like the H3 and Battle2. It's robust enough to stay super-tacky for years if you clean it and cover it after use, and it's thick and meaty so it won't be damaged really.

Just play with it until it's broken-in.
It'll save you a lot of money, including on boosters and various other very dangerous substances that are known to be very deleterious to your health.
