We aren't pros, we can use blades as long as we like. The only dangers to blades are accidents and overgluing (since wet glue used to frequently can soften and warp the blade but this is rare for players who don't use and change rubber with pro-level frequency.) So your romance can last forever.

The answer to your worries is simple: Seal the blade properly and the wood will not be affected by the constant use of water-based glue.

Also place a silica gel humidity absorber in the racket case and of course by avoiding power-contact with table, floor, umpire, opponent!

Many people say this about blades lasting forever.

But in the for sale posts, and my own experience, bats often get dings. I use a padded edge tape so thick you can loop with it. Yet my blades typically last two or three years before the edge dings cause flakes of top ply (or plies) to break off at rubber change time. After enough wood goes it's time for a new blade. I don't do the filler or wood glue thing.

Considering I always have two or three of the same blade, that 2-3 year life is about one year of play. And I am not (any more) a bat-thrower or rough on them in that way. It's only from hitting edges or the tabletop. The top ply is incredibly thin and quite delicate.

So your viscaria should last somewhere between one year and forever.

Yes, these things suck. Couple of days ago I made a ding in freshly repaired blade...

Now I have a new strategy in mind... As soon as I receive a new blade from Sergio, I'll ask/beg him to be put into queue right away ;-)

I choose weight and surface of blade before purchase now and buy aeound 3 of the same at once. See which one I like. Depends some one session and done, some for over 1 year, don’t like it over 2 years tho because the glue that the company used to fuse the blade together weakens and hinders performance.
