How to ACTUALLY clean Hurricane 3?

This user has no status.
I use water and a sponge, but it seems that there’s infinite dust or particles everywhere and useless and just damaging/rubbing too much on the rubber, I clean the sponge every time and let it dry out but it seems useless.

How do you guys keep your H3 like almost brand new?

Any non-Chinese rubber is way easier to clean, keeping them in a good shape is hard.

I use about 4 to 1 distilled water to 70% isopropyl alcohol in a fingertip spray bottle. A couple of squirts, then wipe off with my finger. If needed, on occasion you can use a drop of dish washing detergent and a soft bristle brush, like a toothbrush with the 4/1 spray.

3m clear office tapes (or lint roller if you feel fancy) to pick up the dust and lint after cleaning with water.

During match / training
1. Breathe & wipe with hand (slow and not effective if too much dust) or
2. Wipe on your sweaty shirt & wipe with hand to dry (faster and cleaner - not sure if good for the rubber)
After match / training
3. Put on small amount of water and wipe with hand or sponge to dry

Only plain water doesn’t quite do it.

Just a few drops from any table tennis cleaner. Wipe off with a sponge. Done deal. No different than other rubbers. I haven’t seen any detrimental effects.
It will slowly regain the stickiness after a few hours under protective sheets…

I am planning to make my own liquid.
I am thinking a few drips of dishwashing liquid, water and concentrated lime juice.

Cheers

Water. Then once in a while if I think the top sheet has built up some oil, tiny tiny bit of dish detergent. I have not changed that method since I started playing with Friendship 729, Friendship tackspeed 2000, Globe 999, Juic 999 and now Hurricane 3 and Sanwei Target National.

I personally feel that if the top sheet really is wearing off in tackiness, I would just change it and not be bothered with it.

Of note, hurricane, even if you clean meticulously, the top sheet still looks beat up. Do not expect your hurricane top sheet to look anything like Tenergy's or G1's top sheet even after the first week of using it. It just looks beat up. However, that's also when the sponge softens a little bit so hurricane's performance can last quite a long time (but looking beat up though).

Letting it dries alone is risky IMO. I experienced watermark on my topsheet. I suggest wipe to dry straight away after cleaning with some water.
If you use a cleaning agent instead it dries in 5 seconds and I haven’t seen any water spots whatsoever… Just one squirt on each side, then wipe. Wait 5 seconds, until it looks dry then put covers on.
Works on both stickies and ESNs…

Cheers

Do plastic covers really improve or maintain stickiness? What's the logic behind that?

I store my racket in a racket bag after cleaning it, without covering the topsheet with a plastic sheet. So far, I haven't noticed any significant deterioration in stickiness. Maybe there's a slight decrease, but I think that's normal, isn't it?

I play with H3 for a long time, just breathing and wiping with my hand is always enough.
Just remember to protect it in between the sessions with plastic covers. That's it.
My H3 bubbles faster than the topsheet becomes unusable/not tacky, especially after many top spin to top spin trainings.

Hi, especially for hybrid's and h3 tacky sheet's. Is it better to use a sticky protection sheet or just an adhesive. My problem with the hybrids is that these are not sticky enough for the adhesive but I have the feeling I destroy the rubber with sticky protection sheet.

Do not let water air dry on the rubber. It can leave mineral deposit on the rubber if you have hard water and may be what is causing your "infinite dust". You can use a drop of free and clear dish detergent on a damp sponge as cleaner. Wipe the rubber then rinse the sponge, and squeeze out excess water, wipe the rubber again and repeat until it is clean. Then you should dry the rubber with a separate microfiber cloth or chamois covered sponge that you only use for drying rubbers. that way no minerals will stay on the rubber but it will accumulate in the drying sponge over time so you will have to eventually wash it.
