Hey guys! Today we’re joined by world number 26 Anders Lind! Anders took 2024 by storm beating world number 1 Wang Chuqin at the China Smash!

In this video I take him on in a challenge match, play some "weird table tennis" with him and take a look his new Donic blade:

Something Anders said early in the video that surprised me is that they train 1-3 hours a day. Is there a reason as to why they're putting in that little vs the Asian countries?

Great video like always!
It's a marketing video, not the whole truth and nothing but the truth lol... but if you watch Lind's Heming Hu interview video, or his TTD interview, you will hear that Lind was not always big on training and he also was in an accident that almost ended his career so in terms of training hours, he is a bit behind the total the Chinese typically have at his age.

it is very normal for Europeans to train that much a day.
Timo Boll is about the same, but then Dima trains double of what Timo does.

I had Huang Yan-Cheng train at Saarbrucken (Franziska, Jorgic team).
They train 10 to 12, and then 16 to 18.

I message Huang at 3pm to call me when he is done training. I thought it was 4pm already.
and within few seconds, he said he is free now and he can call.
When he called, I asked, why you not training because that time is such a normal time for us to be in the middle of the afternoon training session in Taiwan and I was expecting a reply in 2 to 3 hours time, and he said, it is only 3pm now and he is bored waiting for the other players to pitch....

And then in Spain, they train 2 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the afternoon, 3.5 hours a day.
In Germany another center is 9 to 11 and 14 to 16, also 4 hours a day.
In Austria and Czech, 2 hours in the afternoon and 1 to 2 hours in the evening
In some places it is training 2 hours in evening only.... very much like amateur club hours to me, but it is a professional club.

It is just a culture and it all comes to personal preference like Dima who want more hours.
Europeans does focus more on matches with its leagues and cup structure since young.
