My expirience with hairdryer is mostly possitive. The only glue that stick better without hairdryer is DHS 15. So, I wait 30 minutes for the first layer on the blade. Sealing is a huge faktor - best adhesion with the glue is happening with water based PU lacquer.

I've seen people spread glue across the ENTIRE back of a new sheet of rubber, even areas that would never cover the blade and will be cut off anyway. (For example Timo
). Is there a reason for this?

Why wouldn't you save some glue by spreading only within the areas that will cover the blade?
Just to be sure. I would rather waste some glue, then not having the edges glued perfectly.
And its easier to be even on the bladeedges if you cover the whole rubber

The four corners of the rubber would never be part of the racket. Hurricane 3 even removes those corners.
So I was curious when I saw Timo and others spread glue across the entire back of the rubber. Why do they do it that way? Is it just a preference? Obsessive compulsive disorder? Is it a 1st world thing? Or is there a real performance issue I was not aware of. Something like "gluing only part of the rubber introduces uneven tension in the rubber that you'll regret" (like spreading booster only within the blade outline).

<sarcasm> Now the next question is, why does Anders Lind do his gluing on top of an unprotected table tennis table? Is it just a preference? Obsessive compulsive disorder? Is it a 1st world thing? Or is there a real performance issue I was not aware of?

I had the opportunity to try out using 2-2 layers of glue yesterday. I glued a new uncut Rakza Z and a new uncut commercial H3 (unboosted) on a Yasaka Ma Lin Soft Carbon. Whoa! The H3 was just more alive and solid than the other ones I have (unboosted and assembled by TT11, who does a really good job but I assume only 1-1 layers). And I just used Neottec glue.

Also I didn't have a pen with me so couldn't draw an outline of the blade so as to limit the glue to only where it was needed. So I was forced to spread glue over most of the whole rubber, Dima-style. In theory you should always outline. In practice, meh with theory.

I'm glad @Zwill posted about the importance of gluing well. I'm definitely a convert right now.

Top notch player from my country is not gluing well rubbers...
I received 1-1,5 cm shorter zyre 03. He pushed rubber too much and add worthless tension to the rubbers and blade

I like the metallic feeling so I only apply 1-1 thin glue layer, that I can have the feeling of hitting through the blade. With 2-2 or even 2-1, the rubber indeed feels softer, bouncier and ball goes out more often.

The downside is that it's harder to remove the glue, so I have to apply 2-3 more layers before peeling the glue haha

Has anyone tried this glue?
How many layers should i put on the blade and rubbers
Yes, it is weak and cheap glue. Good for thickening the glue layer before glue removal, but not for actual use in play. SUKE 2 is many times better.

is it normal that the glue gets like this on the bottom part or is it too much glue?
No, look terrible. Your target is even glue distribution without bubbles, fragments, etc. Moisturizing the surface can help with the first layer by giving you more time for brushing. Excessive glue can be removed from the glue-applying sponge or pushed outside the rubber.

Do you mean i let the sponge air out after opening?
No, put few water drops and moisturize the surface with a sponge. After that, apply the glue.

Learning how to glue is try and error process. To prevent unnecessary losses, use rubber with a strong and dense sponge (like H3 for example), and seal your blade with water-based PU lacquer. DHS 15 is easy to remove glue.

haha, he is such a funny and awkward character, this is exactly the gluejob i was expecting from him. also how he obviously just got out of bed half an hour before filming the video...

I never glued my own rubbers until recently. My previous two setups were assembled by the provider (which is well known in the community). I decided to glue my new Christmas gift setup myself. The first thing my coach asked me, "did you glue yourself", and I asked him, "is it that obvious" and he said , you used very thin layer by the feel of it. So it's more of an annecdote but apparently it does matter. I used one medium thin layer on the blade and two on the rubbers. Next time I'll try 2 on the blade and 3 on the rubbers and tear this myself
