Is Dignics 09c a better FH or BH rubber?

These are all level relarive things, people who have not seen the premium with which speed is placed as the level gets higher don't understand everything is relative and that while you might be able to get away with a slower rubber at a certain level, the fact that the ball keeps coming back and your opponent can stay in the point until you get tired and give them am opportunity is the difference between a decent rubber and an outstanding rubber. Obviously there are always tradeoffs with consistency etc. But it is always player and level relative, a player's style might not mind hitting 5 or 7 shots as long as the one shot he needs to hit faster, he feels he can produce it.

It seems the standard view is that as you progress you get faster equipment, and that is basically true. But sometimes as you progress you also may want to choose slower equipment, or equipment which gives you more control. I see this also in fairly high level players, say top 3% in my country.

So it's relative and also bi-directional ;-) Simply abs. personal, it seems the only way is to try... We discuss, discuss, discuss and discuss, but if you don't try, you can't know... That said, I'm looking forward the Duesseldorf meeting, which seems to shape up into to the ultimate Zyre testing ground... and hopefully some Nuzn too...

I just picked up a sheet of Glayzer...my first* Butterfly rubber since Sriver EL.

@Gozo Calderano How long before the initial high wears off and I start to chase the pink-sponged dragon?

*OK, I also own a D09c that was gifted to me but so far I've kept the lion in its cage...
Well, you picked a pretty tame rubber to start of with relative to their other series. But it is still a good rubber let us know how it goes.

This is my honestest of the most honest of honestnestness honest feedback about Glayzer.

1. Have not tried Glayzer regular but according to my best bud, Chat GPT, it is about the same same.
2. I have tried Glayzer 09C and it suxs! It feels dead. Gozo is a trampoline kind of dude. I love those boink-boink feelin on me sponge.
3. I only used G09C for two sessions, then tore it off and never ever touch it again, hence do not know how long it will last. Sorry.

09c is normally more suited as a FH rubber because
1) Dead feeling helps huge on FH short push
2) High spin to speed ratio means that FH short serves and FH opening loops are easier to control
3) FH side naturally has a lot of power so the lack of speed doesnt really matter that much

For BH it can be used too, but the problem is that if you play a lot of early timing BHs against deep jamming balls, you need the speed of the rubber to help you out a bit (when people talk about having plenty of power, can you still produce sufficient power when out of position? And how long do you need for the backswing?) And tackiness is generally bad for BH chiquita play as it means the incoming underspin bites more on the rubber and it becomes harder to overcome the spin. Most of the heavy chiquita users (for eg LYJ, Harimoto) are using D05 on BH for this reason.

I hate bouncy rubbers on BH as it feels too sensitive to spin. I tried Tenergy 05 and it was uncontrollable on bh against heavy spin. I thought tackiness would help with that. Also BH flicks should be easier.

I also agree , 09c with tackniness and speed as well , compliments well to incoming booming topspins from opponets to enable us to be in rally and then use our FH to finish the point.

Some people also use MxP to return back with more force so tht opponent is not ready for next ball
