Franziska with a 2-1 win against WCQ. I still don’t understand why Germany did not select him at the Paris Olympics.
I do, they granted a lot of weight to history and subjective weighting criteria. I have argued for a while that the match that most clearly cost Franziska the Olympic spot was his performance against KCJ at the World Team Champs match between Germany and Taiwan/Chinese Taipei. That gave room for subjective assessments of what Timo would have done in the same situation though Timo"s injury later made that moot but too late...

Boll pulled rank. QD secured his spot early through XD. At the end of the day, GER wanted a podium finish more than gold and went with DO.

End results?
MS
QD R32 (2nd round exit)
DO R16
MT
QD/DO/Boll QF (2nd round exit)
XD
QD/Mittelham R16 (1st round exit)

Some WCQ fans are blaming FZD because the latter is teammates with Patrick so must have divulged some tricks :sneaky:

All these mollycoddling really make for good laughs

If we are looking for reasons to be excited about Japan vs China tomorrow, then we can note that Japan beat Germany 8-3 while China beat Germany 8-4. China beat Korea 8-0, Japan beat Korea 8-2. But will tomorrow's match be close or not?

The funny thing is that we might get two matches in two days between these powerhouse teams. Team depth will definitely factor into that.

Lea Rakovac is a good player, but I think she overperformed and Miu Hirano just had an off day. Satsuki Odo beat her 4-0 in that same WTTC.

Do we know if the person did it on purpose due to China vs Japan beef thats going on?
Don't know. It may have been an honest mistake. Maybe he just read from a list given to him, but if you see a giant screen with Tomo pictured on it and he's literally next in line not sure how you can mess that up.

She could just have leapfrogged him though. Needless drama...
