Can Miwa get it done this time against WMY, if they meet?

The MS draw for JNT can't get much worse than that. At least 2 MS bronze medals up for grabs.

Can Yoshimura/Odo do better this time against Ri Jong Sik/Kim Kum Yong?
Miwa may have to get past Kim Kum Yong first...

ouch unlucky draw for Miwa
Odo and Hirano face off to determine who gets to beat Sun Yingsha (who has to deal with PRK as well)... not great draws for anyone but KKY uses pips so Miwa will get her shots. And this should be a normal ball as well...

Who made the decision to draw 15 days before the tournament? And what is the reason for it?
This is so different from previous WTTCs and makes no sense.
players will have extra time to prepare... interesting

153 vs 175 for a place in the last 64, meanwhile Harimoto plays Lim and Pitchford lands Lin Shidong 🥲
Yeah, I feel way tpp few players are seeded and it is probably intentional.

Singles seeding was reduced from 64 to 32 first at WTTC 2021, along with other changes .

The early draw is a first. Like the straight KO draw for Paris 2024, it's likely done to drive media interest, notwithstanding the conspiracies.

Straight knock-out draw

We are now suggesting that the playing system in Paris 2024 goes to a straight knockout system.
This would be based on a draw of 64, with any additional athletes ranked below 64 (maximum of 6
but will be several fewer depending on mixed doubles qualifiers) playing a preliminary round, drawn
against athletes ranked 49-64, to determine final places.

The most significant upside with the straight knockout system is that we can now expose top-
seeded athletes from day one in the singles competition, which will be very attractive for
spectators and media.
The proposed system, with different seeding groups, also provides
reasonable protection for athletes holding seeding positions 17-32, which early on was considered
to be a priority.

That's interesting. Would this benefit the teams with resources to prepare? While smaller less resourced countries are disavantaged?

Tennis slams are 128 players with 32 seeded, right. Is this the same?
