My sincerest apologies. I did not know Lily was injured. I never listen to the commentating when I watch the matches. If Lily is indeed hurt, then maybe playing 1 match wasn't such a bad idea after all.

If Lily is healthy however, there is zero chance she is not playing two matches with that current team.

She has kinesiology tape on her knee. What exactly it means is anyone's guess. But the use of her in a role that puts pressure on Sally is the kind of thing the team has to have discussed. It actually gives the US a guaranteed win vs most teams at #3 and the strategy is not that uncommon on teams where there is a massive drop-off at #3. Sometimes they put #2 in the #3 slot and put pressure on #1 to get two wins. So it could very well have been a deliberate strategy if Lily was healthy. Given how well the team performed and how close they were to winning, I am not sure why we keep belaboring it as if it was a massive mistake.

Granted Lily beat Pesotska when they last played so their head to head is 3-1 for Pesotska. But Sally is the nationsl.champ. it is easy to forget this. Everything about her recent form argues she is not that far from Amy and Lily in performance. Jessica is but that is not her fault.

You can't see the value in having Satsuki Odo on Mixed Teams? She's a silver medalist in XD at the 2025 WTTC. She's 2024 Asian Championships Gold Medalist in WD and has also won 4 WD titles with Miwa and the pair made it to the finals of the 2025 Euro Smash. She's also beaten WMY, a player who hadn't lost to a Japanese player since 2019. Oh, but I forgot. For some reason you're anti-Miki House so that negates all of her achievements.

Nope, I see the selfishness in Odo (well, all senior Miki House players) who skipped the selection trial whereas Nagasaki and Kihara still flew back to play the ones for ATTC 2024 (that also determined WTTC 2025) and WTTC 2026.

ATTC 2024 WD gold and WR1 in name only. Hardly anyone in CHN puts Odo win over WMY as a result of technical superiority.

Her knee was taped up, and she also limped for a step or two after celebrating the final point against Pesotska.

The match was a point away and a tiny bit of extra composure or experience would have taken it over the line. It was objectively not a bad strategy.
