Jan Ove Waldner to retire on Thursday!

The king of kings retires.

Jan-Ove Waldner played his first competitive elite match 38 years ago at the age of 12. This upcoming Thursday he will play his last at the age of 50. Fittingly he'll come full circle by representing Spårvägen table tennis club in both his debut and his finale when they play BTK Rekord at home.



It's the end of an era, but the legend lives on.
Thank you for all you've given.

I was too young in that era but I really wonder what it would have been like to watch a European player against a Chinese player and feel that the Chinese player is the the underdog

According to Swedish sources it is now clear that the match will without doubt be broadcast on the internet.
It's not yet 100% clear where, but when is a certain: Thursday at 18.30 local Swedish time.

OK, the live broadcasters has been announced now. It's on the two major channels in Sweden. However, you need to be there to see the matches (or have a VPN) as they have limited viewing to Sweden only. Bloody disappointing...

The text info on both streams say: Available in Sweden only.
But let's hope you're right.

It will probably only be allowed in Sweden, tv4 also requires you to have membership. Was thinking of going there but the media attention on it has been higher than expected so it will fill out very fast.
