Hi all,
I've recently bought a Stiga Clipper(Master handle, 88 grams). I bought it after a search on the internet, and all people said it was a good blade. I thought it was a good option to me, because I was searching for:
- Better stability close to the table(easier blocks and counter attacks) without loose the ability to play in mid distance;
- I'm always playing too far from the table(many points I end lobbing), and trying to change my game to mid-distance fh-oriented looper to close-to-table double-winged looper.
After I bought and try the Clipper, I've I was disappointed, because:
- Didn't felt that feeling that most people talk about Clipper. Just felt a simple wood blade to me, without the advantage of the control of a 5 ply blade;
- Hollow handle(and I have the non-WRB version, but it's also hollow);
- Many of my loops go over the table and the net, due to blade thickness, felt no control here, miss Viscaria/Treiber K flex here;
- Lobbing wasn't the same;
- Opening loops were too difficult.
The good things:
- I really had more stability close to the table, blocking was much more easier;
- When the ball is catched in the right time, it's easier to do a counterhit, but with a small margin of error;
So I came from Andro Treiber K(and other ALC blades, TBS, TBALC, etc.), and before Clipper I've tried also my Viscaria(That I've left to Treiber K because my Treiber K is more controlled and a little thinner). In Treiber K I was struggling in blocking departement, It's a spetacular blade for looping, but I felt that I hadn't the blocking safety that I wanted, because I end most of the points lobbing and behind seeking for chance to counter attack. With Viscaria, besides short game, everything is easy to me, but I'm afraid I don't have enough weekly pratice time to handle a Viscaria right now. So the questions are:
- Should I stick with the Clipper and make some ajustements? Or stay with Treiber K and try to change backhand rubber?
- If I stay with Clipper, what I should do to loop more effectively, as it is a much thicker blade that I'm used to?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Eduardo
