FZD, what a beast!! Even as an outcast he went there and swept the floor with WR #1 and #2.
IMO, his semi vs WCQ is one of the best matches this year.
And I think FZD didnt go all out, he didn't play as agressively as he used to, or relied much on serve variety. For instance, I don't recall his excellent reverse pendulum coming out to play.
Notheless, it was enough to make WCQ look helpless specially towards the end.

Against LSD, not much to say. Some interesting BH rallies in the first 2 games, but from the 3rd game, it was absolute dominance by FZD.
LSD's current form isn't good but it was a disappointing performance for a MS final. I feel like FZD played even better in the final, his defensive game was godlike and his FH was incredible.

How about Yu Heyi though? Took down LJK in the singles and took FZD to the 5th set in the team event. He was up I think 8-6 before getting a bit nervous IMO while FZD continued his beastly play. Yu Heyi's play actually reminded me of how Ma Long used to play against FZD, using pace changes to force some mistakes, especially on the BH side, by FZD rather than trying to win a rally with pure speed.

LSD got to the finals, has one somewhat poor match against FZD and the conclusion is that his form is not good? You mean he got to the finals of this event with bad form? We should just give credit to the opponent and the maturity stage of the loser, I am thinking in 2017, Ma Long beat whoever he played in the final (thinking FZD but memory can be deceiving) 4-1 as well if memory serves me right.

Usually, in table tennis, you are told to push short and play for the opener or flick the ball and enter topspin. FZD spent so many years flicking the ball and entering topspin before being forced to push more to round out his game. But he is at a point where he has little fear of going long and just beating you down with superior rally skills. You can watch a whole match against high level opposition and watch him serve long, push long and just loop and counterloop people into submission. No one else does it quite like him. Nowadays, he sometimes goes all out early in the point to shorten it, but if you prove you can hold him back by returning the quick kills, he goes into his rally game. And he is unbeatable in the rally.

Booster-Bro openly admit using booster on public social media, whatcha gunna do bout it?

Here, we have here a participant of the China National Games openly admit to using booster. My point is, the use of booster is so blatant, the ITTF rule just does not make any sense anymore. If enforcement is lax, the rule is purely academic.

China Games is not an ITTF sanctioned event. They can have any rules they want. There is some form of racket control because you can see the match officials place the players rackets onto the table. Probably not doing VOC testing. Could have a higher thickness limit for rubber if they choose to.

Just like German league has different scoring rules. MLTT has doubles serve to any part of table, golden points, etc. Doubt MLTT has purchased a VOC tester.

I always was wandering why he doesn't play internationally

Maybe some of those technique peer review sessions he had with Fang Bo paid off handsomely! Those short pushes and BH loopkills he had were really incredible this time around.

Exactly, it's as hypocritical as the serves rules with nearly everyone cheating at some point even with TTR.

Let's go back to the 90's, at least no one was that hypocritical, hiding serves was legit, as speed glue. Speed glue sure was a health concern, but the boosters now are nowhere near the speed glue's toxicity.

And speaking about the tricks to get a superior boostered rubber, I knew some guys who were pouring trichloroethylene on their sponges after each match being single or team tournaments to give extra life and extra speed to their speed glued rubbers. Seriously, some locker rooms were like no-go zones at a higher level

Timo Boll claiming he didn't use booster beacause he didn't want to cheat, man... this guy played as a pro in the 90's in his teens at the speed glue era, come on, give me a break...
