I got information that there is a new line of different fibers to be launched in september. Even a new KLC one.
Well, I'm kind late with this one because the launch happened in early this month already, but here we go.

November

Chonglan Y7
7-ply wood with Limba and Ayous as core

Chonglan Mint (Bohe) Pro-Out
Outer balde with composition of Koto and Kiri and super-ary-c (green fibre)

December

Chonglan Mint (Bohe) Pro-In
Chonglan KLC Power

Will post some pictures when I'm home. But so far the reviews have been good for the Mint Pro-Out. Nobody seems to try the 7-ply wood. I will start to bug Gan about reviews as well, since I'm going to china in january again and might pick one up just to try.

I asked you a couple questions on the last page if you have time to answer I’d appreciate it.

Also I see that Gan has been doing reviews, but they’re only in Chinese on his bilibili account. Probably just needs time to translate them for YouTube. So many vids on there that would be helpful if we could get translation 😂

So I received my KLC Pro from Jinshi, Chonglan, Goldstone, or whatever they’re going by these days lol. Ordered thru Gan and got it in just about 10 days. I haven’t taken it out of the plastic since I don’t plan on playing with it anytime soon. I requested 90-92g and with the plastic on it weighs 94g, and the frequency measures 1445-1460hz which seems high considering the Pro is softer & slower than the standard KLC.

The workmanship looks really well made for the pice, and the handle is squarish, but very comfortable. Feels bigger than BTY blades.

The head sizes for both are 150*157, very similar to Viscaria's. They're around 90-92g as per the manufacturer.
Thanks for the reply. That is interesting, GAN said it is similar to W968 structure, so I assumed it had a bigger headsize aswell. Then it will play pretty differently to my AJH TMXi Pro, or W968, I assume

Whats the headsize on the regular KLC, and the KLC Pro version? And what is the average weight for KLC, and KLC Pro respectively?

@Silver Server how much did you pay to GAN for the Pro version?

Cheers
Total was about $107 usd shipped. In china I think they use the term “W968 structure” for all inner fiber blades with limba, and the same with blades with the same composition as Vis.

Although their a pretty new manufacturer their blades seem to be getting a lot of good reviews on Chinese forums, bilibili in particular. With KLC & KLC Pro being their most popular.

I shall appreciate if you can share some review of the KLC Pro. I bought a regular KLC and don’t like it too much. It is good in low and high gears, ie close to net and mid/far from table, however the mid gears are mushy (when the KLC fibre about or just kick-in). Other than this, the speed, spin, control and trajectory are very good.

Sounds very similar to Yinhe Pro 05.
There can be little to no feeling on some shots.
This is how I described it in a different thread:
My main issue with it is the "low/medium" power range where I sometimes struggle with blocking or looping slowly with less power and overshoot the table.
But looping underspin on FH and BH and producing spin and speed on loops simply too good.

It has koto top plies, which I'm not interested in, but the handle is so nice...
Agreed. I really like the colour 🤣

Gan's first review is out on chinese Tiktok as well. It has an higher power potential, is faster, bounces longer and has a slightly less grab than the normal KLC series. Well, all the characteristic from the Koto Top plies.

I can imagine that this blade feels a lot better mid to long distance in comparison.

Waiting for the Mint Pro-In at this point. Intrigued by green fibre, but didn't wanted to go back to outer blades.

So I got some new KLC and KLC-9 penhold for someone and i briefly tried it. I must say I'm impressed by KLC-9 again. The characteristics in my above post is accurate, but accessing the power and the speed is really easy. The throw and flight is a lot lower than the KLC, but the consistency with this low throw is really nicely made.

They actually smoothed out the KLC and KLC-9 handle and it doesn't feel rough to the hand anymore. Also I'm pretty sure they shifted the weight slightly more to the handle.

I'll try to test the spin tomorrow a bit. Not sure if the KLC-9 penhold and shakehand blades are the same, but the penhold feels really nice so far.

Hey guys, here is the translation from Gan's review of the new Jinshi KLC-9 on Douyin :
"Brothers and sisters, we’re back with another perspective video, this time focusing on the Jinshi Chonglan KLC-9. This version of the KLC-9 features a 1.5K carbon fiber layer and a koto surface veneer. Right from the start, you can feel the power of this blade. It’s very well-made, and the feedback maintains the clear, crisp feel that Jinshi Chonglan is known for. Additionally, with the blade being more resonant, it feels like its performance ceiling is much higher than the standard KLC.

We’ve been testing this KLC-9 since April. After several iterations and adjustments, the final version feels the most amateur-friendly. This version strikes a great balance between power and resonance, and it maintains strong power even when playing farther from the table. You don’t feel any weakness even when you’re at mid-distance. The blade holds the ball well and provides excellent feedback. Even when you’re pushed back, the arc remains high, making it easy to lift low balls.

In terms of spin capability, it’s slightly weaker compared to the version with the limba surface veneer, but the trajectory is more direct than the KLC, and I find it requires less effort. For defense, thanks to the koto surface, the blade is very responsive and provides a solid, firm feel without any hollow sensation. The overall speed is high, and the feedback is firm. The blade can withstand heavy shots during defensive play.

The blade is neither too hard nor too soft—I think it’s perfectly balanced. I believe this inner carbon blade with a koto surface is more suitable for amateur players because it offers a speed boost without being as demanding as the limba surface. During testing, it feels like the blade doesn’t grip the ball as deeply as the KLC; it’s more lightweight and fast. This blade leans more toward a light, resonant, and fast style. It’s not as demanding in terms of power as the 968, but it also doesn’t have the stiffness typically associated with blades that use a koto surface.

During power testing, it feels like the blade has a very high performance ceiling, and we haven’t reached its limit yet. The ball trajectory is similar to the Sun Yingsha blade—it’s more direct and fast, which puts a lot of pressure on the opponent during defense. In terms of control, the blade is stable, without excessive rebound, and the feedback is clear. If you feel that the KLC series lacks power, I highly recommend trying the KLC-9—you might be pleasantly surprised.

In summary, the Jinshi Chonglan KLC-9, as a standard model, offers power that exceeds its price tag. Its structure is based on the 301, with a koto surface veneer. I think many manufacturers could learn from this structure rather than focusing on the 968, as the 301 structure provides better responsiveness and is more suitable for amateur players. The spin capability is also sufficient. For a standard model priced at 430 yuan, I think it’s definitely worth trying, as there are few blades in the 400-yuan range that offer this level of power. It combines a great feel with excellent feedback.

That’s it for this video. If you’re interested, feel free to give this blade a try. Thanks for watching until the end."

If you are interested I can provide more Gan's or chinese review translations (I work in AI so that helps a lot lol)

FYI :
  1. "08面材" (08 miàn cái)in Chinese:
    • "08" I believe is a common shorthand used by blade manufacturers (like Jinshi) to denote Limba wood for the outer ply.
    • "面材" (miàn cái) translates to "surface veneer" or "outer ply."
  2. Why "08"?
    • AI Replies : "Many Chinese brands use numerical codes to label materials (e.g., "05" for Koto, "08" for Limba). This avoids confusion with generic terms and streamlines technical specs." Can someone confirms ?

  • So, I guess "08 surface" = Limba wood outer ply.

If you are interested I can provide more Gan's or chinese review translations (I work in AI so that helps a lot lol)
Fellow tech bro,

08 reason probably AI hallucination. Which model was used? 08 and limba sound very similar in Chinese. Speech to text mistake 08 for limba. Only seen limba written as limba or 林八

Good call, tech bro!

Thanks for the correction. I built an agent that downloads the audio from a Douyin video, transcribes it with Whisper V3, translates it with Qwen 2.5 Max, and then I double-checked manually with R1 to verify the whole "08 outer veneer" story. It was pretty certain that '08' is a Limba code (like 05 would be Koto...), and I made the connection with the DHS 08x blade lol. I've updated my post!
