Hi everybody,
The rubbers i currently use are Xiom Vega Europe. Everytime i serve, i toss the ball high and use my wrist fully to try to create as much spin as possible. However, when serving, my opponents seem to have no trouble at all and are able to hit the ball flat. For example, when i try to do a backspin serve, when i look at the ball, the ball seems to not be rotating much although i used full rotation on my wrist. Could it be that Xiom Vega Europe is not a really spinny rubber or is it my technique? Also, would Xiom Vega Pro be a better opinion to produce more spin?

Either of those rubbers is capable of producing spin on serves.

In my crappy opinion, the number one and two things players do to ROB themselves of possible spin are...

1) Players grip the bat TOO TIGHT whether they are aware of it or not. Grip must be loose before during and at impact. That allows bat acceleration. When the grip is too tight, the acceleration is not there and neither is the spin.

2) Wrong bat angle at impact. many players tilt the bat back too far on backswing (OK if you can adjust before impact) but fail to adjust the bat angle so the rubber impacts the ball BELOW. Often, it is 4 or 5 O'clock where players impact the ball and this isn't gunna get the job done.

There are other things like impacting it out of zone or using too much upper arm or too long a stroke, but No 1 & 2 are the most common ones.

I can tell you that as good a server I am, sometimes, I fail to have a loose enough grip and I pay for it by not getting as much spin as I am trying or worse, a long serve when I intended a short one.

It is hard to keep your serve low and short with a high ball toss without a lot of practice. If your opponents are able to flat hit your high-toss backspin serve, most likely the top of the bounce on the opponent's side is simply too high. Try contacting the ball as close to net height on your side. And pay attention to Der_Echte's advice - it's right on the money.

I actually impact the ball significantly HIGHER than net level and can get a tight (not high) underspin serve. There are many heights you can impact the ball and still get a tight serve, it depends on your impact, touch, and exit angle of the ball.

Developing a consistent tight low spinny underspin serve doesn't happen in one day, one week or one month.

If anyone saw me my first week of trying to serve short, you would have thought I had a NEGATIVE USATT rating.
