I bought a Tibhar umpire kit for $8 USD... as a qualified umpire, I sometimes feel compelled to umpire/scorekeep tourney matches and make a professional presentation.

At a recent seniors tourney, I did such in a doubles match... had my kit at the ready... a gent on side did a blatant illegal serve... gent served right out of his hand and served it right by a former CNT pro... I called let and explained serve was illegal, no toss. His next serve he did the same thing and I awarded point to other team... gent was furious and could not believe I could or would call such a serve illegal... next serve on that team the lady tossed ball directly backwards into her bat with no toss... I immediately called let and awarded point to other team... backwards toss, no vertical, no 6 inches...

I was then immediately removed from scorekeeping, I was exceeding authority, shoulda been scorekeeping only. Even though this was a sanctioned tourney and rules do apply, since there was no official umpire from the tourney assigned to the table, under USATT laws, the players have to umpire their own match and ask the referee to assign an umpire if there are disputes. I shoulda let the former CNT dispute illegal serves.

Something wrong with me and my brain, I dislike watching illegal serves and not calling them. The former CNT player smiled when I called illegal serve... it was like he never saw an umpire call an illegal serve for decades. The ITTF umpires want to keep their blue card status... so they do not rock the boat.

I am recycling my 2-3 year old FX-P, EL-S, T05fx, H3 neo, etc. Please see above. I have no street cred here anymore.

Your post reminds me. I need to go around the club and buy used T80, Dignics 09c, Dignics 05 and T05 from club newbee's who have bought them. I am sure in six months' time, they will upgrade and I will beg their used rubber for free (and reboost them)!!!! :) :)
There are a gazilion forum members who would swear upon whatever that MX-P is utterly worthless after 2 weeks when tuner effect fades...

I often tell forum members to save their useless sheets of 2 week+ old MX-P and Sergey Tsos would offer to pay for international shipping. That cat feels MX-P gets consistent at that point... and I also feel that way.

Illegal serves are my pet-hate. Of course living in a provincial town of a third world country means we are so far away from ITTF rules that nobody feels like they should be obliged to conform to them. I am not too strict, I don't ask for too much. Give me a serve with the ball- contact behind the white line and toss the ball at least 6 " and hit it on the way down.
But the illegal serves just keep coming.
Now I will only play warm ups with the worst offenders and refuse to start counting like one does in a proper match.. I say : If you don't want to serve legally we will only play a bit of ping pong but never again a Table Tennis match.

Soon I will have to play just against my robot at home. 😂

There is too much waste on this planet as it is. We all should do our part to recycle these precious rubbers... :) :) and not let them go to some landfills....

I hate illegal serve too. One clubmate just calls let every time there is an illegal serve. I should do that too....

Yep, do that but you must have a hard skin. Some will just ignore you.
Some will tell you : "It is just a game"
Some will call you a weirdo and some will tell you to get f#%^*ed

Ironically, in the same tourney, vs a guy 4 levels beter than me, I was strongly competing... lost 14-16 first game, won game 2 11-9... then out came illegal serve blatant serving under arm not removed and hid with body...

WHY did I not stop, get the referee, and have him assign an umpire?

I wanted to see how I would cope vs a skilled illegal server under tourney conditions.

I discovered I did not cope very well. I wasn't wanting to win more than I wanted experience. There was no way I was gunna win that division anyway. I will get the rating points back from some future tourney and they are not so important anyway... nearly all my best tourney performances overall, I lost points in the tourney.

lodro,

What is real crazy is how some players in competition will go to illegal serves or poor sportsmanship to get an edge to win.

That is worse than just illegal serving. I get it that some never supported ITTF or natl assn who copy/paste/adopt the ITTF laws.

Today getting wake up, with a stupid fixed idea, that I need to buy FZD alc with D09c both sides and I did it.

I’m more innerforce type guy, but after 2 hours today session, coach have say that i should keep playing with it. And a good student should listen to his sensei, so I guess, I’ll keep playing with it. Will see how it goes 🙃

What is interesting, that when we doing bounce test with Harimoto alc (same D09c rubber) vs FZD - the ball bounces more on a Harimoto which doesn’t make any sense to me, and the whole feeling was that HALC is harder which again - should be opposite, right? But for whatever reason it is
I feel the same. My 83g harimoto is stiffer, harder and faster than my 83g viscaria.
Fastest blade i have since i sold the cca unlimited...

I played with a club mate’s innferforce alc with dhs hurricanes rubbers (he wasn’t sure which model). I only used it for about five minutes but it seemed like I was making shots even faster than my viscaria + tenergy combo. Is thst even possible? Or Im misreading it becsuse it’s a lower trajectory?

I bought 2 each St handle V1 PPP OFF- blades... with my volume discount, I got the blades for around $26 USD each.

I also went down a level of firmness on FH to SOFT sponge... got a couple sheets of Donic Bluestorm Z3 for $33 USD each... my FX-D is around that price... and a couple sheets of Aurus Soft for $27 each... such a setup will once again promote a spin based opening game more than my current battle axes.

So one setup is used T05FX red 2.1 for zero USD, FX-D at $33 and the blade for $26... so $59 USD at almost half the cost of Tenergy 105.

Other setup is Z3 ($33), Aurus Soft ($27) and PPP ($26) for a total of $86... so another setup for UNDER the cost of a diginiski rubber.

I officially have no moar street cred.

I am not raving crazy talking about H3, its national versions, and how to tune it. STRIKE ONE.

I do not fantasize over BTY rubbers. STRIKE 2.5

I do not dream about 895 and Long 5 blades. STRIKE 4

I will soon be cancelled by the TT forum equipment junkies loonies.
Whats 895? Lol

Why should it not be possible ?

Maybe not faster but your ball might have "higher quality." In Chinese commentary of table tennis matches, they often talk about a player's "quality" of return. What they refer to is speed + spin. If the quality of the ball or return is high, then the opponent would have trouble keeping the ball on the table.

So perhaps you feel that with hurricane, your speed + spin combo is of higher quality than with Tenergy. Please see the video below. Same blade. Red is H3 neo, boosted. Black is T05 fx, lightly boosted. It took me a couple balls to warm up but once I got into it, the T05 fx (black side) gave me that distinct sound when I loop drove the ball. A lot of people like it. But it is too pitchy to my ear. I hate that sound. When I use the red H3 neo side, I feel that my loop has a higher quality to it and the stroke feels more "solid." It is not like I have not flipped my blade over and tried using T05 fx, EL-S, FX-P, G-1, etc. on the FH side. But over and over again, I am just like...blah.... Better with H3 on the forehand side.

Awww man did you make this video just for me? Haha. Thank you.

Definitely understand what you mean by quality. For me, it seemed like the hall with the hurricane was faster, and lower trajectory. Perhaps more spinny too but I don’t know since they were zipping past my opponent so he couldn’t block them.

I have always assumed that an inner force alc is a slower blade than an an outer force alc…maybe not. Definitely has me curious about a set up like this. You’ve seen and commented on videos of my play…what do you think?

You are welcome about the video. I will delete the video later. I don't use YouTube in general but sometimes it is easier to communicate with people here via video.

Oh....I am afraid to suck you into EJ'ing. But the bottomline is, until you use a certain type of equipment, it really does not matter what people say or describe. You have to feel it yourself.

On the other thread about what equipment should Dan and Tom review next, I said that I watch their equipment videos for entertainment value only. I don't really take into stock on what they say.

Everyone's physique and natural motion are different. If you played with hurricane and you liked it, you should test it out.

When I loop with hurricane (especially when I did that demonstration video for you where I twiddled the paddle back and forth between the red side and the black side), I could feel that at the end of the stroke, my rubber is slinging the ball over to the other net (like carrying it over the net). But with T05 fx, I do not have such feeling.

I have trouble with Viscaria and Acoustic carbon. I am now going back and forth between 7-ply wood (Donic Persson Powerplay) and slow carbon (like Gambler series of carbon blades).

Do you have one set of blade only? Do you plan to acquire another set? If you do, I have some suggestion about a couple cheap set-up's that won't break your bank.
