I also wonder...I think I just got used to it. It's a very good rubber when boosted, better control than h3
Honestly I agree with you. When I used Skyline 2 Non-Neo Boosted a few months ago, I liked it much more than Hurricane 3, definitely because of the low throw and tackiness with the sheet I got. Then I saw your post and I ordered myself Skyline 2 Blue Sponge again 😂 1st time I used Blue Sponge, I didn't put enough layers because it felt like I was using it unboosted since it was extremely dead.

Yasaka Masamune + 1 layer of OSMO oil:

View attachment 40786
Yes! You chopping with this or playing a more all around game? I have one of these at 85gm and 1450 hz and it has suprising power. This blade is fun to play with and the handle is incredible. I liked to mess around with it and pretend I was Satoshi Aida, but he is inhuman lol

Yes, the beefy handle is so good. Main is 84g and 1620Hz. I am choping, looping and blocking, but not on Satoshi Aida level 😄. Bayed it just to feed the EJ demons. My current setups are slow in comparison - blades around 1200Hz. Masamune actual speed is all over the place, from All+ at light hits to Off+ at hard. With H3N on both sides the speed is manageable and rubbers becomes more alive. There is a strong kick in blocking and smashing, just when you need it. The throw is relatively high and my H3N 38 OS starts to shout out of the table, so I will switch to V401 at 1.5mm. H3N 39 BS plays well on every blade, but at some point will change it with TG3 39 BS. So, IMHO, Masamune is a booster for slow and dead rubbers, keeping the low gear and giving a solid kick at hard hits. The blade has a nice wooden feel, without too many vibrations. If only the sweet spot was big... but there is not a perfect blade.

Is your blade has change of the wood grain in the midle layer? The transition is visible in the picture I post, the zone when blade contur is curved, next to the handle top end.

Yes, mine has the middle layer like that. I bought mine in Tokyo fron one of the big stores and they had about 11 of them, all like that. I bought some Victas TDE for crazy cheap there and had t05 on bh. Def not a chopper set up, but fun to mess with. I dont play it anymore, but i liked the feeling and the ST handle was the best I've ever used. Def not for small hands. Actually, I need to bust this out n play with it again a little bit lol.
Also, I really want to give kudos to Yasaka for making this, its clearly not whats trendy now, but its great to have something like this around for the Hinoki lovers.

only if this is your tenth pair it isn't ej-ing 😂😂😂😂
What colors?
Well I have a functional pair shoes already lol, except my feet started to dislike them.
I bought the black ones with blueish accent:

Coming from minimalist/barefoot shoes it's a world of difference, I'm literally 2cm higher off the ground but I need the stability and dampening.

Bty Dignics 09c max 2x
Yasaka Rakza 7 Hard max 5x

Boosters:

I am all set for atleast two years of blades and rubbers for testing. Awaiting some of the stuff but got most of the items I need already.

I bought a Stratus Power Wood when getting back into the sport because I figured an OFF- is just fine coming from an ALL+, but I'm not so sure anymore. It was about 6 years of not playing at the time, 8 now.

Impressions from the last session was it's very bouncy for a wood blade. It measures out to about 1350Hz, so it'd be about right.

I'll play with this for a couple more months, because I might simply adapt to it, but I'm not surprised if I end up getting something like Appelgren Allplay or Allround Classic with a tacky forehand. My copy of H3N has no tack at all. I figure I could then work up to the SPW over the next year or so.

Those look slick! Way cooler than my boring WD9's lol. They're great shoes but no color variety...

My new "just put the ball on the table" paddle. Loki Kirin K5 + 2x Rozena 2.1mm. I've used the blade before but sold my old one to a clubmate. For a $12 blade, it's got great feel and hold, and the finishing is at least as good as a Yasaka Sweden Extra or other ~$50 blades from European countries. The handle is the perfect size. And only 181g total with rubbers! I used it with more advanced rubbers in the past but since I already have a more powerful daily driver I found myself wanting a reliable sedan in the garage for casual play with lower-level friends, or practice to keep my feeling sharp.
