Yeah I had great expectations from Franziska also. In fact everytime I see a new talent with good BH Im always thinking if he can counter the chinese in the future. Fact is that the chinese study thoroughly every possible threat so its really hard to overcome the obstacles when you know that they are watching you and analyze your game.

So even if a new talent does some damage in a pro tour, the chinese will study him a lot which makes the possibility of winning against them even more difficult. It is also a small weakness in their mentality they dont feel comfortable with unfamiliar opponents.

Antoine Hachard yuya oshima posed a big threat to ma long in the recent china open, cause he has never faced them again. Jang woojin also won against zhang jike 2 times. In the next 2 yuya vs zhang matches, you could see how well prepared zhang jike was to beat him, which means, he had full knowledge of oshima's game.

Totally agree, TTFrenzy.
There was a rumour some time ago, that the CNT had sparring and practice partners for their players who imitated Boll's playstyle...

Yeah I dont know if it is true or not but it kinda shows how serious they are about table tennis. I read in mytt forum a chinese guy translated a video in english which showed how they analyze their top players. They have a team of statistics that analyzed all ma long games point by point for example. In super league and international, they recorded absolutely everything. How many points does ma long win over samsonov for example with BH to BH exchange and then a bh down the line winner.

They even record the time ma long takes to pickup the ball after a point and prepare for the serve. It was something like when he is winning he takes his time , 20 to 25 seconds but when he is losing he is rushing to come back and the time is 12 - 17 seconds. So they had him talk to a psychologist and find solutions about this issue along with his teammates and coaches.
Also before a world tournament, the players who are selected to participate stop training and watch their games with the coaches for 4-5 days while the rest of the team participate in the closed training. They analyze games and everybody shares his opinion and this procedure takes even up to 8 hours just for a single game. Crazy and interesting stuff, the europeans dont have the resources to prepare like this. So the truth is even if china loses in a world competition it most likely wont happen again two times in a row when they prepare so thoroughly

Great topic @brabhamista We have joined @Steven's topic with this so this is the main topic for player transfers of the 2016/2017. I am surprised Liam moved from Ochsenhausen, I felt he progressed very well there and had a good support team around him.

I wonder who makes the final decision where players go to? Of course players but I wonder if clubs talk to one another and negotiate.

Liam was definitely behind the decision to move clubs and I think it will be good for him to see how the French league system and Hennebont can contribute to his game after spending a number of years in Germany now.

Hennebont is a very dynamic club amongst french league. For example, there are a lot of known stages organized for all players. I don't know other french pro clubs doing that. I would like to go once to hennebont, one says about great ambiance !
Wonderful club , I went for a weeks training , best thing I've ever done ! Buzzing atmosphere , total TT & the nicest guys on the planet !
