Results at WTTC 2011

I want joo se hyuk to win but my head is telling me zhang jike xu xin or ma long will win... Poor joo. Schlager played amazingly against him in 2003 but he will always be the true world champion in my heart. What he did was just amazing.

well ud figure boll is gonna have to be smoking something pretty good to beat several of the top chinese in one tournament!

With a bit of luck he'll only have to beat 2 of them, since he could play Hao Shuai in the quarters.

I think Wang Hao. Maybe not at his best at the moment, but I reckon he'll come through knowing it's the WTTC. However I think anyone of the top players can win because they can all beat each other on their good day.

I will back Wang Hao again. He is steady and experienced enough to win it. LGL also said he was very satisfy with Wang Hao as he did not lose to any non-chinese players and have been very consistent in entering at least quarterfinal of all competitions till date. He was no 1 in the first trial and in 2nd, not doing very well as he only need to achieve no 8 qualify plus he caught some injury to his back. Those chinese youngsters are good but not stable especially in big matches.

Although, I think that Wang Hao and Ma Long are the favorites to win this tournament. I had a hunch that Zhang Jike is going to take this years WTTC just because he is playing very consistent and very dominate. Thats just my guess.

yes. zhang jike's forehand is much improved. it looks like similar to ma long's now.

his weak forehand was what was holding him back in the past in my opinion

You can't say who will win this WTTC. So much excitement.
But I guess:

1.Wang Hao
2.Ma Long
3. Timo Boll/ Xu Xin

But I hope:

1.Ma Lin/ Long / Timo Boll ( Ma Lin because grand slam and he is a badass/ Ma Long because I love his playing style, he is my idol / Boll because he is the only one who can compete against the chinese and he deserved the title
2.Wang Hao
3. Xu Xin / Zhang Jike

I will say Wang Hao will win this tournament !!! He proved that he has been always in a great condition at world cups and championships !!! However I would like to see Timo in the final or Mizutani because they bring great points and more entertainment especially Mizutani with awesome rallies !!!!

Good call Mizutani has pulled out some pretty awesome play, I mean he had a big enough shot at winning the world cup last year that was incredible table tennis!

Ma Long has just beaten Wang Hao 4-0 in the warm up semi-final.
Yan An has beaten ZLK in the other SF.
The final will be Ma Long vs Yan An.
It will be very interesting if Yan An wins this one.

As I explained at the beginning of the thread, I misinterpreted the qualification process for China and thought the 4 players from the trials were the only 4 players to qualify. Also I decided not to remove the thread as there are only 10 places on a poll and I didn't want to have it full of Chinese players as this would make me have to take players like Jun Mizutani and Joo off the poll which is hardly fair. Don't get me wrong I like Chen Qi myself a lot, there are just restraints to having a poll and it pays to have a representation, thats why you click on 'other' and use the thread to make your comment.

You really think so? I thought his form at the VW Cup was shaky at best, it almost looks like he'd attempted some technical changes to his forehand or something. He's a great player, but with the injury I wonder if he will be prepared in time. A real shame but we will watch with intruige!

Would've been. Ma Long finished it out 4-1 against Yan An.
