Some more news in Kirill Skachkov of Russia was 9-2 down in the 7th in his match and apparently had a bit of an outburst at the barriers and was red carded, losing that set 11-2 and the match as a result of the disqualification, still no news on the womens DQ i mentioned earlier

Chuan Chih-Yuan has been eliminated 4-3 by Chu Yan Leung from Hong Kong. Cho Eon Rae had a narrow 4-3 win over North Korea's Jan Song Man who yesterday knocked out Christian Suss. Some quality table tennis going on. Round of 32 starting in a few hours and most of the top seeds are through with Timo Boll still to play and also Xu Xin and possibly Chen Qi as well.

Ma Long vs Tokic was the best match so far, Zhang Jike vs Ri was amazing too!

Agreed, loved every second of it, Tokic's form was inspiring. Looks like I was right to say keep an eye on Shibaev, he's through to the round of 32 with a 4-1 win over Chen Weixing. I'm sure there will be some happy table tennis players out there to see Weixing out, a few perhaps not so happy. Either way Shibaev seems to be holding his own pretty well!

The last set of steger was just incredible.

Insane backhands, perfect defence.

Only if his head (mentally) would always work with him, he would be a so much better player.

Agreed it was definitely top entertainment! Looks like Ma Lin, Ma Long and Wang Hao all sailed through without much disruption. I'm looking forward to seeing Shibaev play Samsonov and Baum to play Joo, have a feeling there could be some good matches there.

That Ma Long match against Tokic was pretty tight. Definitely made Ma Long work for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shibaev beat Samsonov.

Joo Se Hyuk through with a 4-2 win over Patrick Baum, was looking close at one point but Joo pulled it together from 2-2. Zhang Jike had some tight sets with Korea's Cho Eon Rae but secured his place in the round of 16 with a 4-1 win. Chen Qi demolished Alexey Smirnov in a breezy 4 sets, more results to come!
