I had met Mats on two different occasions on trips he invited me to the STIGA HQ in Sweden. He was one of the kindest men I have ever met, so humble, creative and inspirational. He was very close to everyone at STIGA he will be very missed. My deepest sympathies go out to STIGA and Mats family.

Sweet photo. You have to love those Banda shirts. Also nice how you can see the kid in the man and the man in the kid. :)

A sad lost for the entire table tennis family

Mr Bandstigen led Stiga into a new era, a new era that benefited the table tennis fans.
We all saw how much Stiga has contributed to TTD, to the forums, to the few equipment reviewers, and the involvement with the Chinese national team.

No brand has done so much for the fans, Stiga alone in this few years has done more than all brands throughout the history of table tennis. I'm sure many will back my claim!

Mr Bandstigen will be missed......
RIP

My condolences!!!

And to that photo, it is really amazing how people don't change much when they grow up even in oldish age, the eyes and face shape can tell the one who was a kid and what he became just with faces pics, JOW eyes is still in same shape or form as you call it.

I think it is UTTERLY SAD that out of the ENTIRE TTD community, ONLY TWELVE TTD MEMBERS have bothered to read and reply... Shameful for us. Dude was a LEADER of one of the most Bad-Azz TT outfits around.

Yeah, and when Stiga provide freebies, then you get hundreds of replies

This is desperately sad news.

Putting to one side the fantastic contribution that Mats made to table tennis, 46 is no age for anyone to pass. My thoughts are with Mats' family, friends and colleagues.

RIP Mats.
