I've been playing table tennis for awhile now and was just wondering if it was normal to go from a simple basic set up of dual Mark V to expensive set ups like Tenergy 64/05fx or H3/t64. The guys in my club have been nice enough to lend me their fairly used but still in great condition tenergys and that's all I've been used to.

Now that I've got a little bit of money, I've only been thinking about purchasing the same set ups and not deviating to any slower set ups. I don't have super consistent control, but I'm getting there as I keep using this set up.

Normal or not?

Go for it if you have the $$$, Tenergy is a really control rubber on a lot of blades if you use a positive stroke, but it costs so bloody much.

I no longer use Tenergy and a number of rubbers suit my game.

One of the long-lost mission quests in this sport is discovering which equipment is suited to your style and game.

Add to the mix that a newer player is hopefully improving and throwing a huge wrench into everything...

haha well so far the set up has done well for me and I've learned a lot. I'm unrated, but I do plan to do my first tournament in a couple of months. It's weird though cause my swing is naturally a chinese swing even though I started out with Euro/Jap.

I have decent control enough to understand what I'm doing with the ball and how much power I need to output to keep it in play. Are there any alternatives to these?
