Speed vs Spin

Speed helps hitting fast winners off the table but can easily be countered and Spin is very consistent and can win points when unable to counter over the ball. What do you guys think?

U don't see many top players playing fast-hitting style but mostly looping.

However the upcoming plastic ball replacement may change this trend.

Spin is used heavily by defensive players but you need to know how to use it right. Spin can throw off players. For instance BackSpin can mess up Topspin shots. However Speed can be used to throw your opponents off.

Speed, spin, placement are the key elements of the game. Deep down, Table tennis is a game of consistency. To win the game, you can make yourself more consistent, or the other way around, make your opponent less consistent. In order to do that, you need to use all 3 elements. They are equally important, IMO.

NONE of us are top pros. ALMOST none of us are elite amatures.

All elements are needed but for a real sucessful OFF attacking game you really need the speed. Spin gives control and setup for the next balls. Spin is great for soft topspin defensive shots. First we need spin and control then speed.
