Tensor vs Hybrid rubbers

Hi everyone! I’d like to know what the main differences are between Tensor and Hybrid rubbers, and why most professional players use Hybrid rubbers.

I’d also like to hear your opinions regarding intermediate players: is the speed and catapult effect of Tensor rubbers better for them, or the greater grip and contact time of Hybrid rubbers?

Thank you!

Tensor rubbers are typically liek ESN rubbers you'd find. Super bouncy, harder to control than your generic untensioned rubber. the problem is that they are typically less spinny and use more sponge to generate spin. hybrid rubbers use a semi-tacky (not as tacky as chinese rubbers) combined with a tensioned sponge to retain that speed but also allowing higher spin generation. Hope this clears it up for you.
For intermediate, it really depends on what rubber you are currently using. Obv if youve trianed with tensor rubbers for the past year or so, you dont want to immedaitely transition to something different.

I have a much clearer idea now, thank you. Is it very difficult to switch from Tensor rubbers to hybrid rubbers?

I suppose not but due to the fact that theres at least a mildly tacky topsheet, you may need to adjust your technique. It becomes more difficult if you switch from tacky to tensor. I think tensor --> hybrid should be fine. youd just need a few days-weeks of adjusting.

Used to play with hybrids rubbers last 2 years (D09c, DNA Hybrid), switched to Zyre-03 first and now to Helix Platinum - I believe hybrids rubbers time is ticking (maybe 2-3 years more before more players will switch to the new generations of rubbers from BTY and Stiga)
What you mean? Switch to what rubber?

Coverings with a thinner topsheet and a thicker sponge. Zyre-03, Stiga Helix Platinum and so on.

Amateurs aren't switching en-masse due to the extreme cost of new rubbers, I'm sure plenty of people will keep using slightly lower performance rubbers.

Choose wisely; they are not the same. It may work for one but not the other...
