Okay, so at first glance it looks like a pretty good backhand down the line shot on the run. However, the slow motion reveals all! Notice how Nathan Pellissier uses his forehand side as he plays the backhand shot!

This is pure filth! Enjoy!

Danny Seemiller used to do that (hit backhands with the forehand side) all the time. LOL

What tournament is that from? The umpire looks like Chuck Hoey (ITTF Museum boss).

I would call it a Seemiller style hit. Seemiller (and USA pro from the day Bogan) used the American (aka Seemiller) grip to hit BH with mostly the FH rubber, but have the ability to use the BH side of the rubber.

I subconsciously do that blocking at the table when I am setup to block on FH and an opponent hits a fast one to my BH... I only have enough time to swing the bat over without turning it over...

In the vid, the guy had plenty of time to step to the ball and strike it the way he did. I suspect this is something he is good at and does a LOT. Extended like that, I bet he can get more whip with that too.
