Tibhar Hybrid MK review

Quick word on the longevity/quality of the Hybrid MK. Used the red rubber on my FH for about 65hrs and black on BH about 35hrs. Reglued multiple times using rev3 and removed glue from sponge several times (normally after glueing 3 times). Sponge is still looking good. Both rubbers in 2.0mm by the way.

I don't use any type of cleaning material or protective sheets when storing my blade. To clean, I breathe on the rubber and wipe with the palm of my hand. When storing, it goes directly in my bat case.

Topsheet is of course showing some wear. Red rubber (FH, 65hrs) showing finger mark and pimple structure is showing in the middle of the rubber (sweet spot). Black (BH, 35hrs) showing finger mark and second finger mark from serving. No clear pimple structure visible.

Overall, I sense that the rubber feels a bit softer compared to the early weeks and red rubber (FH, 60hrs) is loosing some of it's bite. Have the feeling I need to work a bit harder to get the same level of speed and spin.

Nah...need red on FH as my compulsive neurotic innerself doesn't accept otherwise ;)
But I'm okay with 60-65hrs of decent longevity of a rubber.
You did say that you wouldn't use MK on the backhand - what changed your mind?

Good question and I indeed replaced Hexer Grip with the Hybrid MK. First time I tried it, I missed to catapult on my BH. Hexer Grip already has less catapult compared to Rasanter/Evolution, but still more than Hybrik MK. However, I really enjoy MK on FH and wanted to give MK on BH another try. After about 2 training sessions, I got used to it on my BH and what a joy it is. The high level of control and short throw make this is very nice rubber for short play, block and punch-block. With one of my side-topspin serves, very often the opponent return with topspin and because of the sidespin, I often get it on my BH or at the middle of the table. To return a topspin with a hard punch-block is extremely satisfying. :)

I will probably put my sheets on the Trinity I just ordered and see whether it is worth pursuing or not. I do like Golden Tango a lot, so I suspect this will largely be in the same range - maybe I might end up with Tango on Forehand and this on backhand. But we'll see.

Interesting to read, if I understand correctly you had to adjust your BH from looping to more blocking and punching?
If so, how would you rate the Hybrid MK on the opening up / lifting a backspin ball from both FH and BH?

I've been playing with MK for 3 weeks now. For me is a mix between, Quantum X pro and Hybrid K3, but more on the side of Quantum X. Spinny, but slower than quantum, just a bit, 48º but doesnt feel hard.
I've been thinking where this rubber can fit in the Tibhar line. For FH I would shoose K3 and MX-P 50, for BH mostly MX-P, EL-D , quantum X pro.

For me, MK would fit FH and BH on a more hard feeling blade, I tryed it on PG7 and a CNF blade (or equivalent), It was better on CNF. Maybe this rubber is for the ones that like spin, catapult , but not in the same way like mx-p, where it explodes during counter near table, MK counters better near table on Fh and Bh.

One of the best FH and BH rubbers for near table play.

At first, I didn't like MK on BH. In general, FH topspin is more powerful with more arm movement compared to BH topspin. Due to lack of catapult of MK and my BH topspin relies much on wrist movement, I had issues lifting the ball and(!) putting a lot of topspin in the ball. Personally, I think Hybrid MK is too slow for an all-out topspin oriented gameplay. If your gameplay priorities keeping the ball in the game and win points by ball placement and consistency, MK is a great rubber. Don't get me wrong, Hybrid MK definitely is capable for doing nice topspin, just not as heavy topspin as Evolution or Rasanter.

It's a very interesting rubber, it might be too soft for me to play with but like Golden Tango for me, the control is extremely high. I hope they can make a harder version, it has some every interesting control properties. But I haven't played a high enough level of player to get a true feel for what it does vs the better players.

Feeling of MK is softer compared to GT for sure.
In my opinion, MK is the softer, easier to engage and easier to control version of K3. Wouldn't K3 be more in line with GT?

That's very interesting, I have never played with K3, which might explain disconnect. Maybe I should give that a try. Maybe GT forehand, K3 backhand.

my rubbers (MK + K3) were totally dead after playing 3 and a half months with it (4x a week on average).

i glued a new set of the same rubbers. it was the first time i changed because i wasn't familiar with the sensations yet, and i didn't realize they were that dead. they still looked fine to me visually.
but really i should have changed at LEAST one month ago if not even earlier.

it feels so great to play with those fresh rubbers. I feel i can put twice more spin. the first 5-10 minutes, i couldn't drive properly. it was like a totally different racket LOL.

given how much i play, i think i should change every 2 months. Dignics lasted better i think (TEnergy wears off quicker too)

Hi
I have played table tennis for a little more than a year. I have a hard time choosing rubbers because there are so many. I am currently using Evolution MX-D on BH and FX-D on FH, on a stiga hybrid wood. I really like the FX-D because i feel like i can do anything with it and it is forgiving. The MX-D feels very similar to the FX-D but i feel like the MX-D is harder to control and its not as forgiving as FX-D. I am thinking about FX-D on both sides or one FX-D and one hybrid MK. What are your thoughts? Does the Hybrid MK fit well on stiga hybrid wood or is FX-D better?

Have a good day!

FX-D is very good, it has a softer sponge but it holds very well in hard shots, for me, the EL-D is one of the best for BH, and very suited for FH too, for a spin and control based play, beeing capable of hard play too.
