Completely useless these top x blades or rubbers. It's extremely subjective based on personal opinion.
agree 100% I wish these kind of threads could be stopped but it is a forum for everybody 😂 (Even I can tell a lot of crap here 😂 )

Lol - watching Ti Long is way, way better for your game than watching ERT.

I'm lucky that I live about 20 minutes from his coaching center in Saigon. One of these days I'll try to get some private coaching from him and report back about the experience.

When I go back to the states to visit my family, I stay in Milpitas, California which is the epicenter (or at least one of them) for high level TT in the US. Lot of resources around me that I had been completely unaware of. Wish I had started a lot of earlier!

EmRatThich is a charlatan.
Yes, but so are many people that talk about TT and that includes most manufacturers of TT equipment. So? EmRatThich is just another person with an opinion like so many others on this forum and other TT forums. So what makes him so different?

I can simplify things.
1 what spin or speed can you generate with one paddle that you can't with another? Obviously different paddles will require a different stroke to generate the same impulse but the same impulse an be generated many different rubber/blade combinations.
Does everyone know what an impulse is. It is real and not just something you hear about on StarTrek.

2. What can one do with one paddle/rubber that can't be done with another paddle or rubber?
I have posted two videos. One with me playing c-pen. There was a lot of looping.
The other was playing with my push blocking paddle where I would push short to win points but this is not the best looping paddle. I mostly counter hit.
These two paddles are extremely different but most of you are comparing paddles and rubber that are very similar.

3. Define optimal. I dare anybody. Even hard headed engineers have problems with this. Mostly because the hard headed engineers can't agree on what optimal is.

Over 30 years ago I was in a steel mill in Turkey adjusting the controls for a valve. The instructions said something like adjust the gains until the response is optimal. There was no definition of optimal.

EmRatThich had some nice videos about Chinese techniques, and I learnt a lot from them. But his opinions on equipments... uhhh. He has some good reasons for choosing the top 10 blades, but none of them is useful for me since I'm a penholder :ROFLMAO:

BTW, I want to recommend a channel of my friend (I am working for him), with tutorials featuring another Grandmaster in Vietnam (ex-National team member). Hope it helps you with your game
This is a great channel and the production value is excellent. I've noticed that Hanoi has much more table tennis clubs than Saigon, so I'm glad that these experienced players and coaches are starting to share their knowledge on Youtube.

Now if only Vietnam can implement with a National rating system and tournament/league play, I think it would be a much stronger table tennis country. Right now I notice that club players mostly play within their own club and tournaments are only reserved for young or top level talent and aren't held nearly often enough.

you seem to know a lot about table tennis community in Vietnam. Yes what you said is correct, there is actually 2 leagues play taking place yearly for the club-level players in Hanoi. It's hard to persuade a professional tt career as a player so there're less pros nowadays, most of the ex-pros became personal coaches, or equipment sellers, on the bright side they will have more time to teach and share their knowledge to us mortals :ROFLMAO:

Vietnam is the strongest SEA country in terms of table tennis. I don't have enough knowledge to say how they can be a stronger tt country and break into the larger international stage, perhaps training in china?

I only am aware of Southeast Asian Games as a reference point, but Vietnam has come in 3rd to Singapore and Thailand in the 2017, 2019, and 2021 games in terms of medal count. They did win Gold in men's singles in 2021 though which is a very promising development.

Vietnam has almost no WTT presence since I don't think there's enough funding for them to play overseas. Vietnamese players just need more funding. This will hopefully change as the country further develops economically due to increased foreign investment and improved education and training of its workforce.

Well, I don't know, in the pursuit of the "best" inventory, I have tried many blades and I can say with confidence that all this is very subjective. The blade itself does not work, but only in a set with rubber, which may or may not fit this blade and which is important for my game at this stage. Now I play with homemade blades that my dad made for me. I have sold almost all of my purchased factory blades as they don't have the same control as homemade blades. Still, I don't play with the same blade all the time. It would seem that this is the best, stop! But it is the best only at this stage. The more I start playing and training, the more my equipment requirements diverge from the current ones and everything needs to be changed. This process will never end. Therefore, the "best for all" inventory simply does not exist.
