Olah has lost something.
For sure. They will just push the entire first game.
Not necessarily. Both are good attackers and Hashimoto is a better player so she might force the offense a bit more. But whoever thinks it makes more sense to conserve energy might just push until expedite so yhat the match is on expedite throughout.

Can't watch. Wad he defaulted or did he loat the last game 11-0?
He was upset with being faulted on his serve and banged his blade hard onto the table to the point of damage. Got disqualified. They have to replace the table for the next match. He then proceeds to kick the barrier creating a hole in it and was shown a red card.

Dainton: Calderano has himself to blame.

“Game On in the USA” — WTT CEO Steve Dainton On Why US Smash 2025 Matters
https://www.worldtabletennis.com/description?artId=5117
The lone disappointment? The absence of Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, whose late visa processing meant he was unable to enter the United States in time.
“It’s a very big disappointment Hugo couldn’t make it,” says Dainton. “He’s an incredible player with recent results that show he is currently one of the best in the world — and having him in his home continent was also important for us. But we’ve been encouraging players to prepare months in advance for their visas, and those who planned accordingly have had no major issues. USATT has been an incredible help with this. This is a reminder that being a professional demands more than just performance on the table; it also means taking responsibility for everything off it.

He said "Puta madre! What is this? Kurwa!"

So he employed Spanish, English, and Polish for his expletive. Rather impressive.
I watched the last two sets (well only one set and 2 points because he got defaulted after being down 0-2 in the fifth). He was called repeatedly for his toss. I don't see anything wrong with his toss. He tossed it up and hit the ball on the way down. Yes you can complain that the height is not high enough but if you use the net as a reference (you have to toss at least 6 inches high and the net is 6 inches tall), then his serves are legal. The ball definitely dropped at least 6 inches from the height of the toss to the time he hits it with his bat.

I do notice that often times he would start the toss slightly below the table which is illegal. However, he uses backhand serve almost all the time and he does not impart any spin on the ball with his open hand. So I think the umpires were nit picking especially in this era where players routinely serve forehand and use their heads or necks or shoulders to hide the contact points.

I wish the umpires would just let them play out.

Ball has to be tossed 6 inches up not just drop 6 inches
The problem though is that people sometimes measure this by ball separation from the palm and this makes the serve look bad when the palm goes up a little with the ball. It is why Timo often gets called out for low tosses even though he almost always passes on computer review. Same with Dima.
