Hi guys,

Stumbled across this forum; very impressed with the amount of content and members on here. Happy to be here :)

I'm looking to go to WSA for a training camp this summer but other than the official website I can't seem to find out much details about it.
I was hoping someone on here who has been could share their experience and shed some light on what I should expect? Apart from the obvious of course!

It's €180 for 5 days mon-fri and €75 for their weekend courses. I'll probably go for 7 days.
They have rooms at the academy where you can stay for €38.50 per night (cheaper if you're willing to share).
For me it was either this place or the training camp in Hungary; but it seems like a mission to get to the camp from Budapest and also it's only for 5 days

Out of interest how much is the Danish one? Do you have a link with details about the course?

You just missed out this summer! :( I wanted to go as well, but I didn't it was there. This year they had several Chinese players as sparring partners and coaches from both china and Sweden. Next time there will be a camp I would join in. I will let you know if I know when it is.

well its a tad more expensive its about 1000-1100 euro for two weeks, food included, accomodation included, training included, and other things.
they have two different styles of camp they got the more beginner/intermediate 3 week camp( but lasts two weeks. weird :p and is cheaper + they take you sight seeing)

and then you have the Elite camp which is a solid two week programme. which i missed as well due to lack of funds.. but will definitely be going this coming summer.

I just had an AWESOME idea! :)
What about this comming summer 2013 we gather some people who are interested (and frankly can afford it) and go all together to the WSA for a week.
Like the TTD-army :D I think honestly it would be great to meet some guys, i can show you around in our free-time, we learn a lot there and will have an unique week we will never forget :D

Sounds like a fab idea to meet at the WSA! I have a friend who will be travelling to play in the worlds this year and wants to do a week of prep at the WSA.

Re the WSA - I have been there myself, and needless to say, the facilities are the very best you can get. The halls, tables, flooring, lighting, not to mention one of the best gyms and physio facilities available are arguably probably the best out in the world at the moment. Many Pro and national teams go there to prepare as a result.
With respect to your personal experience - well, depending on your level, you WILL get a coach to work with you, however, the chance/s of working with Richard Prause or having a hit with a top player are slim, unless you are a recognised high level player. I am neither of those, so had to play with the group scheduled for the training camp with me. I had good training sessions for the week I was there, the coaching and exercises were v.v. good. However, unfortunately, the other members of my group did not challenge me as they were well below my level which was in many ways disappointing.
So would I go to the WSA again? definitely - but this time I will go with my friend who is playing in the worlds, so at least I get challenged and a player of my level or better to hit and spar against.

Oh - did I forget to mention that after 4 days, (at least for me, and I consider myself very fit and run and train regularly too) ones whole body aches like nobody's business, and screams for a rest - dragging oneself up for the morning and (afternoon) session was literally like pulling teeth - that was the week I decided that I am happy I am not a table tennis pro)))

Henzell said that WSA were the best conditions he's ever played in RE your comment above the one I quoted, it really seems to be a fantastic training facility!

Hey Pom! Happy 2013)) and yes, its an absolutely amazing facility - would be great if we could organise a tt daily training group and have a great week of training and fun and socialising together! Met Henzell whilst I was there - he and his gf were unbelievably nice and friendly...William is a true gent.

Hi Flyryder and Decoy,
I emailed WSA recently and was told that WSA does not provide any onsite accommodation options and was recommended to nearby hotels. There was also no mention of providing meals and sight-seeing from within the academy. I would very much appreciate if you (or other members) could you give me any suggestions how this training + meals & accommodation package can be booked.

Ideally, I would like to attend WSA however if there are other training + accomodation options available in europe that other members know of, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Mario
