Well .. it depends as relative humidity (I assume you know what it is) is only one factor among many such as temperature, metabolic rate of an individual (it means you may feel different than others at the same humidity/temperature), air condition speed, ...

To understand more you should search for ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 55 which is a little complex for non-engineering folks.

What is the ideal humidity for TT play ?

Actually humidity is probably the smallest factor in comfort level among others. To answer your question it requires multiple steps.

1) ASHRAE Standard 55-2010 uses the PMV model to set the requirements for indoor thermal conditions. It requires that at least 80% of the occupants be satisfied. There are others but I'd simplify it by using PMV only. Other standards are EN 15251and the ISO 7730 but I won't discuss them.

2) this standard relies on many factors such as: metabolic rate, clothing insulation, air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air speed and relative humidity.

3) Assume Basal metabolic rate of 2 as table tennis is somewhat a moderate activity (not as hard as tennis or gymnastic). I could be wrong here so this number can vary.

4) Clothing: Typical summer dress 0.5 clo.

5) Air temp is give at 26C

6) Mean radiant temp: same as air temp = 26C

7) Air speed : somewhat stagnant as it is indoor and I'd guess moving air is air conditioning ~ 0.1m/s because too fast air speed would affect high toss and playing.

8) calculate relative humidity to get comfort level to meet the PMV requirements:

The answer is NONE as seen in this chart. To meet ASHRAE Standard 55 at ANY humidity the air temperature should be much lower, say 20C plus radiant temp also around 20C.

90-100 percent is optimal... at least that is what they did in Korea.

I think humidity started out as 110 percent and the wall mounted A/C units they use drop it all down to 90 percent.

Who cares as after the matches, you shower off in the bathroom area, then go out for chicken and so many cold ones that you oughtta be cooled down for the rest of the week.

I have played in Shanghai in unconditioned TT halls in the late summer or early fall. It was miserable. I like between 60 and 70 degrees F or 16 to 21 C.
The humidity should be below 60%.
In the Pacific NorthWest the humidity rarely gets that high unless it is cold wet and miserable. After a summer rain after the water evaporates the humidity can be high for a few hours.

Your blades have the highest coefficient of restitution when the moisture content of the wood is low, 10-12%. This is rarely achievable in real world conditions.

I usually play in an air conditioned room.

The 35-50% humidity level suggested for gymnasium use is the ideal conditions for their wood floors too.
