Im going to stick to baby oil. It is cheap and effective but takes longer to dry. Really added a higher gear to my cheap chinese rubbers, but made the rubber a little springier in the low speed game. Made spinny serves spinnier and made looping underspin much easier. My process if u are interested, otherwise skip to last paragraphs.

1) Apply a thin layer of glue to slow the absorption process. Let dry.

2) spread liberal layer of baby oil with paintbrush. I drop several drops on the sponge and start spreading. Not too much to wear it starts dripping on over the sides, but enough to have a coat. Wait 12 hours.

3) at this point there is a layer of mush on the sponge as the glue and oil has congealed beyond absorbtion. If the rubber had a reverse dome, by this time the rubber will have leveled. Apply second layer liberally like the first and wait another 8 to 12 hours.

4) depending on the rubber there will now be a dome of around 2 cms. If this is a h3 neo, u are done with the layers and start to wait. Apply a third layer if u want more and wait for 3 to 5 days or until the 2+ inch dome diminshes.

5) apply glue to rubber and paddle and stick it on.

This has been my most recent method. The slower the process, the more through the results. Rush it and you can ruin the rubber.

I am sure the more experienced users have better advice then i, as i only recently started messing around.

FAIS WELP, I just applied a layer of baby oil to my h3p neo. 15 minutes and it dries immediately, what to do? welp :s

EDIT: the baby oil is Johnson & Johnson

of course it smells nice LOL... The first layer was thin layer, like WBG thin, so I decided to apply another layer immediately with quite liberal amount. It glowed nicely under lamp.

Now it's 90% dry but still no dome... I'll leave it until tomorrow.

Def wait 12 to 24 hours before your next layer. It takes a while for the oil to take effect, especially if you had a layer of WBG first (so patience is key). I followed the steps outlined in this vid, but with baby oil instead of booster.

My first layer took about 12 hours to show any effect. On my dried out year old h3 neo which was reverse doming, the first layer flattened it out, and the second layer yielded this (shinny and fragrant!):

I didn't bother with the third layer, and didnt really need too. The rubber had grown still and needed recutting. (4th day is when i glued it back on. Baby oil takes a day or 2 longer than booster to dry.

quick edit: that oil is a good choice. I checked online and the ingredients are only mineral oil and fragrance, so good call. (I know some J&J baby oils have eucalyptus as well, im sure those would be fine too, but i hesitate when there are additional ingredients/more unknowns)

how's the condition surface of the sponge when you apply glue to the rubber?
is it 100% dry or is it still a little bit oily-dry (not wet, but not 100% dry either because of the oily surface.., you can feel your hand becomes slightly oily when u rub your finger on the sponge).

Now it's already in dry-oily state and I need to apply it tomorrow (around 60hours since I applied my second layer). I think I messed up my boosting timing with my practice session ._.

If the rubber isn't doming excessively, it wont hurt to try to glue it on. If the rubber doesn't stick around the edges and keeps lifting despite the glue, stick a stack of books on the blade and leave it for another 2 days or so. Or, wait another day before you stick it on, either way the performance will be the same and the results will be identitcal a week later.

And what about WD-40 .... it is ok ?... does someone have any more info ?

WD40 works well for waking up the topsheet. I have never tried it on the sponge but if you have a topsheet that is losing grip it does make it grip more.

you dont apply WBG first? why yours looks like there's no WBG?

I use a little bit less baby oil compared to you I guess.. For the second layer I'll be a little more generous :) Can't wait to try it on my new viscaria (with viscaria handle of course)

I did apply the glue first... always apply the glue, the above picture was right after a second coat, so it had been 2 days. (See my thumb print on the first pic? lol).

If you dont apply glue and u use a liberal layer of oil, you def risk the topsheet separating from the sponge. (Ive read on this thread however, some people have the art down and know how much is enough for each coat.)

If you apply too much glue, then boosting will work but it will be a very slow process, but it will work. My first time, I erred on the side of caution and had a regular layer of wbg (not thin) so i used a thicker coat of oil, kept an eye on the process and gave it more time to absorb. (It was nearly a week before I got the rubbers back on).

Will it expand the topsheet? I boosted my friends old rubbers, but im wondering if there is a way to rejuv the topsheet. I just dont want the tensor effect to fade.

It makes the topsheet more grippy for a while. It may cause the rubber to expand a bit but that is not why it works on the topsheet. Not sure I can explain why it works on the topsheet. But it does.
