So we all love tabletennis but I'm sure hehe you dislike somethings while playing tabletennis. But what you dislike the most?
Please choose 1 or 2 you dislike the most.
For me its people talking close to the table where I play, its very irritating and because of that it takes my concentration away and I can play real bad then and second enemy stamp foot while serving as the stamp takes some focus away and in my eyes its unsportive but its allowed. So if enemy does it, then I do it to and better hehe.

When someone is so interested in winning that they do not have fun unless they are winning I do not like it. I have played with people who, if they start losing they pull all kinds of antics, talking or yelling, throwing their racket, changing the score, or just plain being angry and upset. I don't really want to play with someone who cares more about winning than how they play.

Everyone likes winning and in this sport everyone loses to someone they should not lose to once in while. It is okay to be competitive but I have seen some stuff that reminds me of children having temper tantrums.

I know this guy who is always cheering when he gets nets and edges and then he complains when someone else does it to him. The last time he complained about that to me, I said, "that is funny, because, I don't really care, but I see you do that all the time. Perhaps they did it to you because you do it to them." One time when I was playing this a guy who I like, but do not like to play with, the ball hit his chest and then he hit it, and cheered like he won the point. When I said it would have been a good shot if it had not hit his chest first, he denied what was completely obvious to me from my side of the table.

I don't need to play with people like that. It is not the antics themselves that I mind. It is the person who would pull stuff like that. I might like the person off the court, but I don't need to play with someone who is going to act like a spoiled child while playing.

@Carl I don't mind playing those players as long as I beat them :D I played against players who try to steal a point sometimes too. But mostly at important points, pretending it hit the edge or my shirt. But when I don't go with it they don't keep trying usually.

I tend not to let opponents get to me.

I did have one incident last year where I won comfortably and was greeted by my opponent throwing a complete "paddy" and announcing to the world he was never going to play again.

I know we get fruustrated at losing but have some etiquette and at least shake hands to say well done.

Nets and edges can be a frustration but as I seem to get more than my fair share I best not object too much.

At least right now, the percentage #s on the poll are wrong. How would that happen. With 8 votes right now, I added up the percentages and they come to 114.3%. :) Last night when there were 3 people who had voted there were three answers and each said it was 50% so it was tallying 150% of the vote. :)

I dont like when someone is talking near the table, but its not that bad..
Worst thing for me are net balls..
I get them so often!
Worst is, when I play someone I know I can beat.. but I dont because I get 3-4 net balls per set .. thats too hard on me..
When I lose 11:9 and 4 points from there are because of bad luck, it just doesnt seem fair to me..
And I always get mad when I see something not fair.. heh..
So this is worst for my selfcontrol..
But I am working on this, I am trying to take it like its normal part of the game, even if I see that noone around me gets that many net balls..
No 1 in our country told me that it might be because of my game! Lol so it even seems its my fault, hehe..

Anyways, I dont get that much net balls since I visited eye doctor, I see better, I play better, so probably it changed my game a little and affected this :)

Wet/greasy rubbers are probably the most frustrating thing about playing our sport. That and when your mate has said he'll coach you and then spends the whole first set chatting up some girl and then has the cheek to try and blag some coaching in between games. Lol. You know who you are ;)

Totally agree, I hate to see a wet spot on my rubber after I hit the ball and the ball hits the net or even my own tablehalf ;(

Playing conditions can irritate me.
Slippery floors
tables too close together
white walls
bad lighting

besides these things, I'm quite stoic

It has to be stray balls. You tend to get a lot of this when the playing areas are small. Balls from adjacent tables flew into your court and table interrupting your game, and some times you even have to play the point again...a point that you could have won especially. When the replay ensues, you lost the point!!!

Smooth operators .... today in our saturday league I was playing a senior guy ( around 40 ) higher rated than me and very polished. After the toss which he won ... he was going to serve and I said that I wanted to start receiving from the side he was serving .... he came over to my side and then said he wanted the side I wanted and that he had not decided till then !!!

.... pissed me off big time ... :(

Wouldn't that issue only come up for the person who wins the coin toss. I thought if you win the coin toss you can either choose the other person's side or to serve first. In other words, the person who loses the coin toss should not be trying to chose which side to play on. And by asking for that you opened the door for him to actually investigate which side he wanted. And since he wanted the side he already had, there should be no issue. But if he wanted the side you had and you had not asked for his side, then he would be able to say, "you can serve first but I want that side first."

Isn't that how the coin toss works? But the person losing the toss, as far as I am given to understand should not request a side because then you have just opened the door for the winner of the toss to get both the side and the serve; and in this case a mental edge because you started the match annoyed with him for something that did not really have to do with match play.
