My FZD ZLC
Thanks for the post. Would you say ZJK Alc is your favorite among all three of them? Thanks!

Yes it’s the most balanced. Vis has too little dwell time for looping away from table. ZJK solves that.

FZD BH a bit too soft, ZJK solves that.

My FZD ZLC is on its way. I will see if my opinion will change 😆

Great! thank you for your feedback. Let me know how you like FZD ZLC. I will be curious to know your opinions.

I have one ZJK ST handle and one ZJK AN handle. Not sure if I am ready to install rubbers on them or I should just keep them for collection (since they are now out of stock).

I think ZJK ALC is back in stock. But I have the R series and heavy (92g). The newer one tends to be lighter, crispier and less dwell time (adjusted for the new ball for speed). I like my old ZJK

Got it. I have Y series (just bought them in 2024). Straight handle is 83g and anatomic handle is 87g. I just realized the shape of anatomic handle basically add a few grams to the set up! Thanks!

I have a 1980s Stiga Anatomic love it. Very comfortable, great for two wing play. And man the 5 ply Stiga blade weighs 96g

People who don't buy lots of similar equipment tend to put differences in performance down to brand. So FZD has supposedly better forehand than Viscaria. In reality, a lot of things other than handle, can drive dissimilar behavior between blades that should be exactly the same., especially weight and time of build (we haven't gotten into wood which is affected by time of build). If you haven't bought 2-3 Viscarias and tested them against 2-3 FZD ALCs, please stop being so sure that the blades play differently. These blades play largely the same and the player just has handle preferences.
I have a Vis (89g) and 2 FZDs (89 and 92 grams) with identical rubbers. My practice partner also has a Vis (93g) with identical rubbers which I boosted and glued for him. The two Vis played identical, the two FZDs played similar though the newer/heavier one is a bit stiffer.

The FZDs are a bit flexier, a bit easier to activate, but not as quick and crisp compared to the Vis. I think this is also what the majority of other users feel. So I do believe that the difference is actually true.

There are ways of measuring these things that give more objective results. That said, handle preferences do influence a lot when it comes to how a blade feels because where you place your fingers and how the blade feels influences proprioception. But things like quick and crisp have very little to do with the quality of the ball. Let's see you loop with all 4 blades and see how differently the ball comes off and we can discuss how this "flex" and "crispness" influence ball quality.

Oh you'll be able to feel the difference if you played against me, particularly on my BH shots. People I play against can all tell the difference. On the FH side I'm not sure. The way I play if I land a FH drive it's gonna be pretty threatening to players of my level regardless of what equipment I use. The difference is more in the land rate. With something stiffer I need to brush a bit more or else the trajectory is too flat.

That's fair. It should show up on video then.

That might be a bit ambitious. I mean, I watch a lot of equipment review videos and I can almost never tell the difference between them on video even with direct comparison videos.
It does show up on slow mos. But the other thing you can do is measure the blade frequencies. That tends to tell you pretty quickly of the blades are really comparable or not. If Butterfly is somehow making the FZD more flexible, then systematically the FZD will be consistently less stiff than the Viscaria across weights.
