Hi,

This is my first post so I am not sure if its in the right place etc.

Basically, I am looking to buy a robot for use at home. As such, I am not looking to spend the amounts required to match the Robot my club has.

I have looked online and there are a couple of Robots I have found that are reasonably priced and seem to fit the bill though one is reconditioned.

Can anyone offer opinions on which of these two I should buy...

Thanks

Depends on what you're lookin' for.
As far as i've been told the Joola 'robot' is rather something for hobby players. A friend's club have one and only use it for beginning kids or at festivities.
There is a review on ttdb for the american version called ipong.

I don't know anyone using the other one you've posted though. Looks a little more professional IMHO.
Our club uses the Butterfly Amicus Advance, which is pretty good, but maybe a little too pricey just for home usage.

I have the Tibhar version of that exact machine (same generic chinese made machine, just rebadged by different suppliers).

If all you are looking for is varying degrees of top spin / back spin with alternating placement, then this machine is pretty good. if you are expecting anything more than that, then this machine is not the one. Its quite loud though, so don't be using after late or the neighbours might be on your case (or round for a few beers and a knock ;) ).

Hi ultravires,

That's the one :)

The only other thing at does get quite annoying is that the machine is on the table as I keep hitting the robot and having to collect balls from everywhere as they fly off . However there is also a silver lining to that too as it forces you to play more returns to the corners and have better control, so good comes out of it :)
