custom blades are really expensive.why dont you just purchase a good blade from a reputable company?

Thats not true - pricing is fair, in fact some of the quality vs price is much better than those so called reputable companies.

There is one particular guy very popular among the one-off blades fraternity whose name escapes me at the moment

Looks like Charlie is taking a sabbatical from actually making blades, or so the site says, while American Hinoki's site offers no means to actually order a blade other than by emailing the owner - I think the site is currently being revamped.

Ross Leidy looks good as does Soulspin, although using Soulspin's configurator requires a very basic understanding of Deutsch. OSP also looks very good - I fancy an OSP Virtuoso, given the ability to afford one !!
