Why do only Chinese players use DHS rubbers?

I'd like to see more international players try out boosted H3 to see if they play better.

Also, is DHS researching any more rubbers? H3 itself is already decades old isn't it? Will they just keep offering H3 for the next 20 years, or do they ever plan on developing better tech?

They need to develop some spring sponge technology and get rid of the need to boost....

I don't see the need of that. The market is full of jumpy bouncy springy rubbers.
Those player who like those rubbers are buying them and the others are buying the good stuff. We like the smell of napalm in the morning and the booster in the evening :devilish:

IMO first DHS don't have the motivation for that. Hurricane is still the best seller, and next to zero pro players are getting caught by boosting with current regulations. So little push from either amateurs or pro players.
Second it is easier said than done. Tenergy was the best rubber after speed glue ban but I recall people saying it is still not as good as actually speed glued rubbers.
Even if ESN or butterfly come up with a better hybrid/D09c in the future that can closely match the performance of boosted Hurricane, durability v.s. price would be another dealbreaker. Would you pay for such a rubber that performs at its peak for a month or so without boosting, or a National Hurricane but boost it yourself (probably last >3 boost)? If you plan to re-boost this "next best hybrid", you might as well stick with Hurricane.

It's always good for companies to keep investing in research and development to stay ahead of the curve... If they manage to develop some spring sponge they can sell higher price rubbers and increase their profits, surely shareholders would be more than willing to embrace this aim.

I talked to my clubmate who refuses to buy DHS products. First of all, he is convinced that Hurricane has been updated over the past 20 years but with each update, they did not really rename it. Aftera all, we are only at Hurricane "3" right now. To him, he feels that is somewhat deceptive. With each update, they should name the rubber differently and get a new approval number from ITTF. Somehow DHS has been able to get away with that so why would DHS change?

The latest evidence is that Hurricane 3 neo and Hurricane 3 regular are no longer as tacky as two years ago. We, the table tennis players, are not idiots. But yet I am (and others are) still buying hurricane 3 so maybe we are the idiots.

To my friend at the club, he just would not buy DHS products for that reason.

In addition, DHS is going from commerical to provincial to national, and now to DHS Hurricane 3 Neo 37' Ma Long Backhand red for $132.50 and DHS Hurricane 3 Neo 42' Ma Long Forehand black for $132.50. That is going too far. That really pisses my friend off. Honestly that pisses me off too. There is no way Ma Long is using that same rubber. CNT gets better rubber that we mere mortals cannot get. So what the heck?

As for trying other hybrids, they just don't play as well as boosted hurricane. I think the key for hurricane that has been broken into properly is, it is soft but yet springy. It is not pure catapulty like all the ESN rubber. Just like we can agree that no one has copied the spring sponge of Butterfly's Dignics and Tenergy series exactly, we can also agree that no one has managed to copy the sponge technology of DHS.

I have tried. I have bought Friendship Battle II blue sponge provincial version, Sanwei National Target, Big Dipper, Rxton 1 plus, Rxton 3, Rxton 5, Mercury II, AK-47, etc. etc. I have always come back to Hurricane. At this moment, I have zero interest in Loki Arthur China or the new Rxton 9. Sorry, not throwing my money away. I know what I like and I am going to stick to it.

I only really recognize two people that I can name.
The donic blue shirt girl with 189 and Joola shirt guy.
As I thought, this is an old video, as both players are over age for U18 today.
Joola guy changed to Super Lin, and uses a special edition given by Lin, since he is Lin's practice partner. And uses H3 National blue with T05 Hard still

I have seen a few other players training in person, but I can't name them :p
ya I know quite a few of the kids, especially the boy with the viscaria and the t05 h, t05

If you are looking for the best unboosted rubber, you'd probably buy a Dignics (or a top-tier tensor). If you are looking for the best boosted rubber, you'd probably buy a Hurricane.

Now, would DHS not want to produce their own Dignics? I'm sure they do, but I am not sure they can. Companies specialise and have expertise in certain area.

I think Chinese manufacturers have not truly cracked the code of top-tier non-tacky rubbers. Many of the good Chinese non-tacky rubbers use imported sponge or is made partly/completely in Japan or Germany. DHS Goldarc is made by ESN. 729 Pando is made in Japan. Colored Sword Ares has some foreign technology they traded with their own blade-making technology.

Now, I haven't tried all the Chinese rubbers and ESN rubbers to say anything conclusive, but very few, if any, Chinese non-tacky rubber is actually competing against top-tier ESN/butterfly rubbers. Their selling point is 99% price-to-performance ratio. In China, Chinese non-tacky rubbers rarely exceed 150 CNY, which is about the same price as the cheapest ESN rubbers (Tibhar Aurus, Stiga Mantra/DNA). Rakza, Fastarc, Baracuda etc. are around 200 CNY, Rasanter, K3 etc. are >250 CNY.

I can tell you that Viscaria / Super Viscaria is likely among boys, the number 1 used blade.
FH would be H3, or T05H
BH would normally be T05, D05 etc

Girls side, a lot of Nittaku rubbers

Of course, other than sponsored players.

They should start cracking at it then... it's just rubbers and not rocket science....

I found most of them, especially the older ones who don't mind a heavier setup, use h3 on fh and 09c on bh on viscaria and boll. I remember finding a 96g viscaria when shopping in taiwan with my friends...
yeah

Jeff's video is really too random and are not of strong players. You got a girls U18 no1, then you have a total unknown that could be changing rubber brands every 2 months, because the coach says so. So to me, it is too random. Rally go for say, all players in the top 16 or 32.

he has a newer one if you interested, few days ago, of elementary school kids. even more random
some of the schools name, I haven't even heard before
