Sora's problem isn't disrespect. He tends to present the body language of a quitter and his whole attitude today and back in Montpelier against Truls was like "I'm not comfortable here because reasons, so f**k this s**t, f**k this ball, f**k this table and f**k this tournament.

I've seen this a bunch of times, just never thought I'd see it on a level this high.
Sora is special and different. Japanese have very good manners generally speaking. Not Sora when he is playing or about to play. Never met him in person. He is also only 18, maybe he is ”forced” to play, what do we know. We are all special and different. Maybe he plays mind games and are in full control of his behavior. Sometimes when he shows that bad attitude he goes on to win many points in a row.

Okay. Let me know when you have something that shows that the people playing for Japan didn't merit their positions by and not some inside baseball that Tieba experts read tea leaves to understand. Miwa Harimoto is the top Japanese player and the Miyu2 had the same opportunities to win that she did.
Here is Nagasaki's interview with Tarzan where she said COVID-19 hit when she was gaining momentum and it totally threw her off the coming-of-age transition and she lacked the experience of handling the position of being pursued after coming in 2nd at Lion Cup Top 32 2022, losing to Hayata 3-4 after leading 3-0 in the final (like I pointed out to two stubborn members).

But again, coming from someone who even questioned the qualification of Mizutani. What's the use of it?

As I wrote earlier, the confidence Sora shows can be constructive, but the problem is that he assumes he can approach the table and destroy his opponent with his shots. When the opponent becomes resistant, instead of finding a new strategy, Sora gets offended and tries to show that he can still score the point in his way, meaning hitting with full force, regardless of whether he scores 1 point while the opponent scores 3. Most players, however, try to find a way by changing their serve or return. Perhaps these are the sins of youth; he needs to let off some steam before he calms down, shows more respect, and considers other options.

I guess someone else can make sense of how that answers my question. It's pretty straightforward to me that she hasn't performed as well as her teammates, explanations do not affect the bottom line. Covid19 didn't affect her teammates either? If the damage from Covid19 affecting her momentum was that severe, then maybe you should give up on her. Miyuu Kihara lost to Hayata after leading 0-2 in the final - was her momentum hurt irreparably by covid19 as well? Who else qualifies?

HY 2-4 ZYL (6) (-7, -4, 12, 5, -6, -5)
G3 710, 910 TO for ZYL, 1110, 1111, 1211, 1212, 1412
HY played like an offensive player near the end of G3.
G4 41, 42, 52, 53, 93, 94, 104, 105, 115
G5 01 dead net for ZYL, 02, 22, 26 endline edge for ZYL, 29, 49, 410, 610, 611
G6 01 HY missed the smash, 21, 23, 33, 35, 45, 49, 59, 511

I want to see a rematch between ZYL (now with a proper coaching team) and Hashimoto. The last time Hashimoto was really hot, but this time HY is even hotter, adjusted for age.

Like LSW, ZYL eats choppers for breakfast. Don't mistake ZYL for DN and CM.

Even at her lowest of low at the Austrian Open 2018 (where Ito 2-3 DHK in R16), which was right after Swedish Open 2018 (where she lost 0-4 to Ito in F), ZYL still beat Hashimoto 4-3 (8, -8, 9, -11, 10, -10, 10) in R16.

Extremely impressive win by LYJ which sets him up as the favorite for the final. It seemed Harimoto had a serving strategy that contained LYJ but something flipped after that game 6 timeout and he found a serving strategy that also contained Harimoto. The sport is going to be interesting again. So many contenders...
